Summer Internships

Join us at PG&E for an exciting summer of challenging work and new friends. A summer internship with PG&E will give you real-world exposure to a dynamic and exciting business. Through a combination of opportunities including networking, executive speakers, volunteering and philanthropic adventures, innovation workshops, tours and a little fun we provide current students with an overview of the public utility experience.

 

Our summer internships are 10 + weeks and are available for both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students. We offer a competitive salary, paid company holidays, supportive colleagues and the potential for a full-time position upon graduation.

Be ready to spend the summer at PG&E if you are:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university and plan to continue your education towards a degree after the summer internship.
  • Someone with a strong work ethic and demonstrate initiative
  • Someone who works well in a team environment
  • Someone with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Actively involved in extracurricular activities on campus
  • In good academic standing

Important Notes:

  • You must be a student returning to full-time study in the fall after your internship to be eligible for a summer internship.

  • Engineering summer internships are generally filled in the fall of the year prior to the upcoming summer. This includes:

Student & Recent Grad Opportunities

New engineers can participate in an 18-month Engineer Rotation Development Program (ERDP) that includes three six-month rotations, classroom training, mentoring, field trips, networking events and job shadowing.

During this time, you will gain hands-on experience and valuable insight into the day-to-day workings of PG&E. Rotational tracks in either Electric or Gas Operations will help you acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve top performance on the PG&E team.

As part of the program, you can also apply for admission into the Engineering Management Certificate Program offered through The Stanford Center for Professional Development.

MBA Leadership Program

The next generation of leaders will emerge at PG&E to help us meet the challenges and opportunities that the future will bring. We seek top talent from the best business schools across the nation, and are interested in meeting individuals who offer unique perspectives, exceptional academic achievement and broad real-world experiences.

During two 12-month rotations, you’ll learn about the energy industry, demonstrate your leadership skills and have visibility with senior management. You will also benefit from structured leadership development for personal and professional growth, including mentoring opportunities and community volunteer experiences.

Rotations change yearly based on business needs. Some recent assignments included managing growing energy demands in a sustainable fashion, driving business towards a low-carbon future or building a high-tech utility. Available rotations may encompass:

Recruitment for the full time PG&E MBA Leadership Program takes place from September through December of each year. PG&E recruits MBAs from the top MBA programs in the US. We will attend recruiting events at the core schools listed below during the Fall recruiting season. Recruiting at schools other than those listed below will happen virtually during the same time frame.

MBA Leadership Program Summer Internships

Our 10-week internships create a pipeline for the PG&E MBA Leadership Program. As an MBA intern, you’ll collaborate on challenging projects with diverse teams to get a first-hand view of our business.

PG&E summer internship opportunities change yearly based on business needs. Your internship could involve work on plug-in electric vehicles, greenhouse gas reductions or renewable energy operations, as well as potential positions in:

Corporate Services
Energy Supply

 

Recruiting for the summer associate program begins at the end of November through January of the following year. Recruiting events at our core schools listed above will generally take place in early December and/or January. Resumes are reviewed as individuals apply so applicants are encouraged to apply early. Interviews will wrap up by the end of February and offers will be extended in March.

MBA Fellowship Program

This opportunity is available for existing PG&E employees who are not already enrolled in an MBA program. The selection process is rigorous, as successful employees receive 100 percent pre-paid tuition assistance for all required courses.

Participating employees must stay with PG&E for a minimum of three years following the completion of their MBA degree and will be expected to perform at the highest levels.
