Position Summary 

The Technical Lead provides strategic technical leadership, direction, and delivery oversight for technology solutions within a team or project. This role combines hands-on expertise with leadership accountability for solution design, system implementation, enterprise alignment, scalability, and security. 

 

Serving as a key partner between business stakeholders and technical teams, the Technical Lead translates business needs into practical, well-architected solutions and guides teams through successful execution. This role includes mentoring team members, promoting engineering quality, resolving complex technical challenges, and supporting the timely delivery of reliable, high-quality solutions. 

 

The Technical Lead also partners across architecture, infrastructure, operations, and security teams to promote alignment with organizational priorities, technology strategy, enterprise governance, and leading practices. 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA once per week, or more, based on business needs or company requirements.

 

Compensation

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum and midpoint listed below.  The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Bay Area Min: $140,000.00

Bay Area Mid: $189,000.00

Bay Area Max: $238,000.00

  

Job Responsibilities 

  • Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and implementation of complex systems. 

  • Guide delivery teams in producing scalable, high-quality technical deliverables. 

  • Promote and ensure adherence to enterprise standards, best practices, architecture principles, and governance expectations. 

  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies to support predictable delivery. 

  • Champion the thoughtful adoption of modern technologies, tools, and frameworks. 

  • Translate business requirements into clear technical solutions, architecture diagrams, and implementation guidance. 

  • Assess and recommend technologies and platforms that align with business objectives and enterprise strategy. 

  • Mentor, coach, and guide technical staff to strengthen capability and delivery effectiveness. 

  • Facilitate technical training sessions and knowledge-sharing forums that promote team learning and consistency. 

  • Serve as a trusted escalation point for complex technical challenges. 

  • Partner with product owners, project managers, and stakeholders to shape delivery plans and technical execution paths. 

  • Contribute leadership and technical perspective in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. 

  • Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and issue resolution with a focus on sustainable outcomes. 

  • Support production deployments and release management processes through disciplined planning and coordination. 

  • Communicate technical solutions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to business and technology stakeholders. 

  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships with infrastructure, security, operations, and related technology teams. 

 

  

Qualifications 

Minimum: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a job-related discipline, or equivalent experience. 

  • 5 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure, systems administration, cloud operations, or related Information Technology functions. 

 

Desired: 

  • 5 years of experience working as a Technical Lead in an Agile/Scrum environment. 

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent cloud platform certification. 

  • Strong oral and written communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills. 

  • Ability to foster community, strengthen team engagement, and elevate team performance. 

  • Strong execution discipline, ownership mindset, and sound decision-making. 

  • Advanced technical knowledge and expertise for supported products. 

  • Proven ability to translate user stories and features into actionable technical tasks. 

  • Knowledge of storage, database, operating system, data protection, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
