Department Overview

The Supply Chain Organization includes a staff of more than 500 sourcing managers, buyers, analysts, materials planners, supplier diversity, warehouse personnel. Our mission is to deliver cost effective and valued supply chain services through strategic, diverse, and sustainable business solutions. Our work requires close integration with all lines of business, finance, and our suppliers. The women and men of the Materials Logistics and Planning organization work to meet or exceed our customer’s expectations by ensuring that the right materials are delivered to right location, at the right time and at the lowest possible cost. We are responsible for all aspects of Materials distribution, logistics and reverse logistics from forecasting through delivery.  This includes materials planning, inbound transportation, warehousing and distribution, client services and investment recovery. The employees who comprise the Warehousing and Distribution organization within the Materials Department are dedicated to providing the right materials at the right time and cost to meet or exceed our client organization's expectations.  Operating out of three strategically located distribution centers plus facilities dedicated to transmission pipe and pipeline products our employees are laser focused on customer satisfaction with public and employee safety at the foundation of everything they do.

 

Position Summary

This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E.  This job is subject to collective bargaining.

Material Handlers are responsible for the management of materials for gas, electric, telecommunications, grid and transmission clients.   They receive stock, pick and distribute electrical and gas utility materials, such as transformers, cable, fittings and meters.  Duties include lifting and moving materials by equipment and by hand.  Material Handlers also participate in annual inventory and periodic cycle counts at the facility.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $34.53 per hour.  This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain an absolute commitment to safety and work safely at all times
  • Receive, pick, stock and deliver material by hand or with use of equipment
  • Responsible for in-storage maintenance, material searches and return to stock
  • Perform duties using various Material Handling equipment including forklifts, stock pickers and other necessary equipment and tools
  • Use computer to complete administrative tasks
  • Stack and un-stack materials while working at various heights
  • Work in environments including inclement weather and emergency conditions

 

Qualifications

  1. Minimum:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License
  • Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
  • Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
  • Ability to work at varying level of heights
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, weekends, and/or overtime (scheduled or ad hoc)
  • Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds a minimum of one time a day

Desired:

  • Demonstrated experience using Enhanced Warehouse Management (EWM) software
  • To better represent the communities we serve within a timely manner, applicants who live within 50 miles of the headquarter location will be given preference
  • Demonstrated experience using SAP
  • 3 years work experience in warehouse or shipping environment
  • Class A driver’s license
  • Certified to operate a forklift
  • Previous/current PG&E experience
  • Previous/current Hiring Hall experience
  • Military experience
  • Graduate or currently enrolled in an approved PowerPathway® Program
