Department Overview

The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure all manners of electric engineering—including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning—are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.

 

Position Summary

Provide GIS and database support for the implementation of risk management duties. Responds to queries and resolves technical issues. Leads and/or supports the preparation of annual regulatory reports.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $​122,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​194,000

&/OR

California Minimum: $​116,000

California Maximum: $184,000

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced knowledge and broad expertise to solve complex problems regarding GIS-related software, hardware, work processes, user support and data integration
  • Develop and perform advanced gathering, integration, and quality control procedures for geospatial data with significant impact and risk to LOB or function
  • Manage delivery of GIS-related data development projects, gather input and agreement on new requirements, develop contracts with vendors, lead implementation, communication, training, and documentation efforts.
  • Serve as lead SME for advanced enterprise GIS initiatives, develop and review software functionality requirements.
  • Work with IT DBAs, Migration, and Infrastructure Teams to develop, maintain system architecture and stability and resolve issues affecting business users.
  • Work with IT support teams to resolve day-to-day production issues and quickly respond to issues to minimize the business interruptions.
  • May manage cross-functional projects with other work groups and vendors, troubleshoot issues, produce technical communication
  • Develop metrics and process improvement programs for GIS- related work processes.
  • Work with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions
  • Work independently, with guidance on only the most complex projects
  • Demonstrate by personal action a 100% commitment to employee and public safety.
  • Coach and mentor to GIS Technical Specialists, may provide direction to less experienced employees.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with GIS-Geographic Information Systems, 7 years
  • Experience with GIS-Geographic Information System, ArcGIS, 5 years
  • Utility industry experience
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent
  • Ability to travel using personal vehicle

Desired:

  • Masters Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience with GIS-Geographic Information System, ArcSDE
  • Experience in contract administration
  • Experience with Software Development
  • Experience in data analysis
  • Experience in data modeling
  • Experience in project management
  • GISP-Geographic Information Systems Professional certification
  • Product and program management services surrounding system operations, changes, automations, and integrations.
  • GIS and IT project management support including scheduling, impact assessments, education planning, and communication.
  • Gather product requirements and inputs to utilize LEAN approach for project management tools (Jira) to collaborate with IT Team.
  • Conduct stakeholder review meetings for technical writing and procedure revisions including sections, layout, languages, and visuals.
