Position Summary: In this position, the candidate will be responsible for working with the automation engineering group to implement new graphical control schemes for human machine interface (HMI) and other substation apparatuses. The preferred candidate will possess working experience with one or more software programs such as, EATON SMP (SG-4260) Gateway application suite. Support Substation apparatus design and deployment in alignment with Operations group in operating the transmission system efficiently.  Work with the Automation engineering team to ensure that the equipment being designed meet the operational needs of Transmission Operations.  Serve as liaison with division and district field operations personnel.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

  • Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)    $93,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (Bay Area)    $116,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)    $139,000.00

 

  • Minimum Base Salary (California)    $88,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (California)    $110,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (California)    $132,000.00

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain Eaton HMI - DB/Displays/Test devices with BA (i.e. EMS & ADMS)
  • T&D Substation RTU commissioning with ADMS & EMS
  • T&D SCADA Apparatus O&M tier 1 support
  • Substation Apparatus COE and ECAP tier 1 support
  • Substation Monitoring Tier 1 Support
  • Considers long-term impact as well as short-term results when making decisions and recommendations.
  • Maintain Substation monitoring software
  • Supporting maintaining IMS software
  • Cyber security apparatus support
  • Emerging Technology Support-APC, Battery Storage, PV, Interconnection installations
  • Completes assignments of broad scope and complexity with few precedents or standards, and assignments that require integration of information from a variety of sources.
  • Works independently with substation general design direction. Often serves as a team leader.
  • Recognizes and actively seeks opportunities for process improvement.
  • Contributes to the development of standards, procedures, specifications, and guidelines

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BS degree in Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience or technical training
  • 3 years of relevant experience workng with SCADA or other Process Control System in the Power Generation Industry

 

Desired:

  • Experience working with SCADA or process control systems preferred
  • Knowledge of OSI, RTscada, Citect or Areva display and database building procedures desired
  • Graphical user interface (GUI) and design skills desired
  • Knowledge of computer networking and SCADA protocols desired
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems desired
  • Able to establish and document operations procedures
  • Ability to be self-managing and to relish the challenges of problem solving.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and an ability to develop positive relationships with vendors and clients
