Department Overview
Gas Operations oversees the natural gas transmission and distribution operations. The team maintains and operates 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipeline, 43,000 miles of distribution main, 3.6 million gas services, three PG&E-owned storage facilities with 102 BCF capacity, nine compressor stations with 175K HP, and 5,000 measurement and control facilities. Gas Operations is comprised of approximately 6,000 coworkers.
Position Summary
Prepares, conducts, and evaluates assessments for Engineering, Construction & Operations in accordance with work procedures, policies, and design standards. May be involved in functions related to supporting and communicating assessment findings. Conducts quality assessments both independently and as a team member. Compiles and reports out quality assessment results to other interested parties and verifies Operator Qualifications of assessed employees and instrument calibration records.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $118,000
Bay Area Maximum: $188,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $112,000
California Maximum: $179,000
Job Responsibilities
- Works independently, utilizing advanced knowledge of utility regulatory general orders to complete deep reviews and analysis of the construction work, uncovers complex findings and root causes and prepare comprehensive recommendations for leadership.
- Partners with cross organizational leaders on identifying root causes, trends, process improvements and in implementing solutions
- Provides assistance and coaching to lower-level peers, including on the job training.
- May handle questions regarding more complex verification situations.
- Acts as a technical resource for construction employees and field supervisors.
- Validates quality of completed work by crew and inspection using advanced knowledge of company standards and procedures.
- Leads cross-organizational special projects or initiatives and the go-to lead and subject-matter expert.
- Summarizes and presents complex findings to leaders. Use advanced communication skills to determine appropriate content for target audience.
- Establish new processes for emergent quality control audit requests.
- Leads team of quality control specialists to conduct both Focused and Process audits.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- Experience as Gas Quality Control Specialist, 1 year
- 7 years of relevant experience in gas infrastructure or quality control.
- CA Class C License, or equivalent
- Willingness to work in an office environment
- Ability to travel up to 70% percent of working time
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience as Journey Level Gas Pipeline Operations Measurement and Control Technician
- Experience at PG&E, job-related
- ASQ-American Society for Quality Improvement Specialist certification
- ASQ-American Society for Quality CQA-Certified Quality Auditor certification
