Department Overview

 

Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 1000 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E’s successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

 

Position Summary

 

Supervises the maintenance and operation of all Southern Area Hydro facilities not associated with generating and delivering power. This includes all commercial and residential facilities at Helms, Balch and Auberry such as offices, shops, warehouses, lodging facilities, cookhouses, company housing and water & sewage treatment facilities. Interacts with regulatory agencies in the operation of water and sewage treatment facilities.

 

This work location may be flexible between Balch, Helms and Auberry. Hybrid/remote work is not applicable.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

California Minimum: $​97,000

California Maximum: $​154,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for operations of sewage treatment plants in accordance with California Regional Water Quality Control Board requirements and California Department of Health Services Requirements.
  • Assigns rooms, coordinates meal requests, prepares weekly work schedules, and supervises housekeeping and cookhouse operations.
  • Maintains inventory of all facilities other than Powerhouses. Identifies facility maintenance requirements and prioritizes needs, pursues budgets, solicits contracts and executes work.
  • Recommends a course of action on emergent issues at all Southern Hydro Area hydro non-generation facilities based on data. Will support Powerhouse non-generation systems such as roll up doors, elevators, bathrooms, etc. with maintenance, repair, and replacement strategies.
  • Analyzes operations of offices, shops, warehouses, lodging facilities, cookhouses, company housing and water & sewage treatment facilities for the most cost effective and reliable service.
  • Interacts with agencies that deal with sewage treatment plants, drinking water systems and operation of camp facilities.
  • Supervises camp operations personnel including IBEW represented employees.
  • Works with appropriate support groups to make sure functionality of offices is at peak levels, including IT workstations. This will involve coordination with hardware and software service providers.
  • Responsible for all utilities at Southern Area Hydro facilities and associated billing. For example, garbage service, public telephone and internet services, propane deliveries, etc.
  • Works with appropriate vegetation management service providers to maintain wildland fire preparedness of all non-generation related facilities in Southern Area Hydro.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • Associates Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Relevant experience, 3 years
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent

 

Desired:

 

  • Technical Trade School completion
  • Leadership experience, front line employees
  • Experience in union contracts, 3 years
  • Water Treatment Operator Grade D1 certification
  • Water Treatment Operator Grade T1 certification
