Position Summary

 

This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.

 

Note: As an Intermittent Housekeeper, work hours depend on business needs and have an intermittent/ on-call schedule and will not have a regular set schedule.

 

This position is located at a major hydroelectric facility at the Helms Pumped Storage Powerhouse located about two hours northeast of Fresno in a very remote area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Housekeepers must be able to work well with others, use good judgment to make decisions, and take directions from others.

 

Residency onsite is not required, and no housing accommodations for employees will be available.

 

This position is physical in nature and may include lifting, crawling, crouching, grasping, carrying, kneeling, ability to walk for long distances and the ability to use upper extremities including your lower back. Work environment may include varying temperatures and weather conditions.

 

Operating hours are 7 days a week and hours range from 4:00am to 8:30pm.

 

Note: This job does not include health benefits until employee has attained regular status. Intermittent employees may attain regular status upon the completion of six months of continuous service. Continuous service is defined as being uninterrupted by (1) discharge, (2) resignation, or (3) absence for more than a cumulative total of 30 days due to (i) layoff, (ii) sickness or industrial disability, or (iii) other causes. If an employee is off for more than 30 days during a six-month period, a new six-month qualifying period will begin upon return to work.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $40.73 per hour.  This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties in the boardinghouse/dormitory, powerhouse, and sleeper trailers.
  • Responsible for floor care including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and polishing.
  • Will perform linen laundry as needed.
  • Travel between different house facilities using company provided vehicle.
  • Re-stock supplies and maintain storage areas.
  • Provide support to kitchen staff including cleaning, dining room set-up, food preparation, and cooking.
  • Ability to perform duties on uneven terrain which includes: stairs, wooden porches, uneven roads, gravel/dirt surrounding rugged areas.
  • Ability to travel to rural site and respond quickly to on-call requests.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License or equivalent by day 1 of hire.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs multiple times a day.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule.
  • Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions.

 

Desired:

 

  • Previous Housekeeper at a PG&E facility
  • 1+ year demonstrated experience in general cleaning practice and basic cooking
