Department Overview
Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.
The Gas Transmission Project Management Department is a team of professionals working throughout the service territory to manage a portfolio of expense and capital projects for Gas Transmission Portfolio Management The team is responsible for the execution of projects from start to finish.
Position Summary
Gas Workstream Program leaders are responsible for one or more groups of projects necessary for the maintenance and operations of gas facilities. They lead teams of project managers and oversee matrixed teams who support these projects. Work groups may consist of regular employees and contractors. These leaders manage work from inception through completion while meeting the cost, scope and schedule requirements, leveraging the skills and experience of a diverse team to focus on the successful delivery of capital and expense projects. The leaders promote a safety culture and ensure all staff adhere to all company and regulatory safety practices and policies. They contribute toward Gas Safety Excellence goals by improving safety, reliability and affordability for one or more asset families and one or more life cycles.
Job Responsibilities
- This position is for the Supervisor of the In-line Inspection Upgrades & Pigging Workstream.
- Responsible for supervising a team of approximately 10 – 12 employees, primarily project managers.
- Communicates issues up the management chain as needed
- Ensures daily activities are carried out in accordance with PG&E established guidelines and procedures
- Implements established policies, procedures, and best project management practices across the workstream to ensure high quality, consistent project performance such that projects are built to scope and specification requirements, on time, and within budget. This includes, but is not limited to, approval process, change control process, design review standards and communication protocol.
- Maintains safe work practices; ensures workstream team is performing all required support functions with an emphasis on safety
- Makes presentations to PG&E leaders, including officers, as appropriate
- Manages the portfolio of projects for the assigned workstream and assigns project work, project initiatives and special assignments to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Provides direct supervision, staffing, training, coaching and mentoring to Project Managers and others on team; manages day to day planning of operations, develop methods, authorizes overtime and controls costs
- Provides effective leadership, coaching and development of the team through goal setting and the performance evaluation process, development planning process and provides frequent, open and honest feedback, arbitrates and resolves conflicts as needed to support successful project delivery.
- Works collaboratively with Transmission Integrity Management Program, various Engineering departments, Land & Environmental, Enterprise Project Management, Construction & Maintenance, Gas Planning, Gas Pipeline Operations & Maintenance, Scheduling, Project Controls Analysts, Business Finance, Workstream Specialists, Managers and Project Managers to consistently achieve project objectives and improve performance
- Works with/and supports the Workstream Manager, Workstream Specialist to develop and define the annual scope of work and objectives and build annual and monthly performance measurements to track progress
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $128,000.
Bay Area Maximum: $218,000.
&/OR
California Minimum: $122,000.
California Maximum: $207,00.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Equivalent Experience
- 5 years of gas or related industry experience
- Experience managing and coordinating cross discipline teams
Desired:
- Expense or Capital program management of significant size and scope
- Field experience with maintenance, construction and engineering of gas systems
- 10 years of gas or related industry experience
- PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
