Department Overview
The Electric Engineering team ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Engineering is
responsible for PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and
construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.

 

Position Summary
Oversees the automation engineering group which implements the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and remote
access on all electric Transmission & Distribution substation equipment. The group provides and develops detailed automation
requirements, engineering design review, Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) settings, and construction support as well as Provides
maintenance and operation (M&O) support of the existing automation infrastructure. Participates in product evaluation and
automation technology design standard development.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work
location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting.
This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors,
including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and
internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of
the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $136,000
Bay Area Maximum: $232,000

 

Job Responsibilities
. Applies extensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices in the automation field to resolve complex problems.
Ensures the group attends safety training and maintains qualifications.
- Manages and assigns individual work assignments, schedules and priorities. Ensures schedules are met.
- Participates in work groups, initiatives and special projects related to process improvement and clarification of responsiblities in the
organization.
- Provides M&O with technical support of substation automation equipment, remote master stations, and Energy Management
Systems (EMS) systems.
Provides technical leadership and coaching to the automation engineers.
- Supervises 8-10 represented employees.
- Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective training and development, performance management and rewards and
recognition
. Supports General Rate Case efforts, as witness or subject matter expert.
- Supports the development of Transmission & Distribution substation automation strategy, 5 year road map, lifecycle replacement
plan, and ongoing equipment maintenance
. Supports the management of Transmission & Distribution capital and expense budget for automation and protection assets.

 

Qualifications
Minimum:
. Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
5 years of related experience in electric utility automation systems

Desired:
· Masters Degree in Engineering-Electrical, or equivalent experience

. Experience in Substation engineering and/or design, Power System Protection, and Utility Automation
. PE-Professional Engineer license
