Department Overview:

 

EO Operational Excellence Operations Strategy (OE OS) oversees regulatory compliance, governance, strategic planning, learning strategy, performance reporting, multi-year planning, industry benchmarking, workforce strategy and development and communications. Ensures that all programs are managed in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, filings, tariffs and follow established guiding principles/best practices. Coaches teams to identify gaps in work methods, procedures, processes or training and partners with stakeholders to recommend solutions. Develops policies and relevant governance, processes, infrastructure, documentation and tools to support the program.

 

The Sr. Manager of Process Improvement will coordinate with all EO departments to benchmark and standardize processes in alignment with the Enterprise Knowledge Portal. Will work with leaders in EO departments to identify areas for improvement and change. Transitions ideations to the OpEx Operational Strategy team for piloting, tracking through completion and, pending results, reincorporation into process flows.

 

Position Summary:

 

Leads the continuous improvement program, including organizational performance scorecards, key metrics, benchmarking studies, action plans, and related reporting.  Partners with the operating groups to measure, track, manage, and communicate business needs, organizational objectives, and performance improvements. Works with senior leaders to deliver performance improvements through safety improvements, quality enhancement, productivity gains, and cost reductions by providing analytical rigor, disciplined methodology, and enhanced visibility to process and performance improvement opportunities. The incumbents direct a focus on continuous improvement and management to move the company to leading performance.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $151,000

Bay Area Maximum: $257,000

  • This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
  • This position is hybrid. You will work from your remote office and your assigned location based on business needs (currently 1-2 times per week). The headquarters will be in San Ramon or Dublin.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages continuous improvement program.
  • Works with leadership to establish key performance metrics; works with operating groups to develop departmental supporting metrics and programs, and coordinates alignment and resources.
  • Leads gathering and analysis of benchmarked results, identifies and prioritizes gaps in performance, and develops and monitors action plans for continuous improvement; leads deep dives and change management activities as required.
  • Leads team responsible for the overall definition and high-quality maintenance of scorecards and reports to measure, track and improve performance.
  • Develops scorecards that demonstrate the link between investment and business performance.
  • Identifies and develops process improvement opportunities; coordinates alignment of departmental scorecards; ensures alignment with corporate goals and programs.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership on development of three-year operating plan and longer-term capital investment strategy.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for Business Finance support, manages QBR process, coordinates budget requests and target allocations.
  • Works with operating group leadership and other operating experts to improve data integrity, forecast accuracy, and performance to plan.
  • Builds and leads a team including managers, principals, and other levels of professionals.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years’ experience in utility or other relevant business experience.

 

Desired:

  • Advanced degree desirable
  • Experience with project, process, and change management.
  • Solid understanding of the business model for generation and procurement, industry trends, and performance and process improvements.
  • Understanding of how business knowledge can be best leveraged to meet strategic business objectives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively with multiple levels within organization and enterprise.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading a successful direct and matrixed team.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess the impact of performance results on the business and to recommend appropriate strategies/ actions to correct and promote continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing performance scorecards, dashboards and benchmarking processes.
