Department Overview

Gas Transmission & Distribution oversees the natural gas transmission and distribution. The team maintains and operates 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipeline, 43,000 miles of distribution main, 3.6 million gas services, three PG&E-owned storage facilities with 102 BCF capacity, nine compressor stations with 175K HP, and 5,000 measurement and control facilities. Gas Transmission & Distribution is comprised of approximately 6,000 coworkers.

 

LNG/CNG Engineering and Operations department specifically is responsible for areas related to portable natural gas, natural gas vehicle fueling stations as the asset owner for 33 natural gas vehicle stations throughout the service territory, various sized liquified natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) portable assets to support planned and unplanned gas outage. In addition, LNG/CNG E&O owns LNG/CNG portable assets, mobile CNG stations, cross compressors, generators, odorizers, and flares used to support planned and unplanned projects in Gas Operations.

 

Position Summary

Provides technical support of operations, construction, and/or maintenance functions LNG and CNG assets within Gas Operations. Provides subject matter support of special programs/projects as needed. Collaborates to ensure the safety, integrity, and reliability of the assigned assets. Supports managing all phases of a project including: plan, analyze, design, build, test and deploy. May perform testing of new equipment and assist in the training efforts of other personnel.

 

Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.

 

Position will require up to 60% of travel time in work schedule.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $​109,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​175,000

&/OR

California Minimum: $104,000

California Maximum: $166,000

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • May provide DOT-Operations/Maintenance AND Emergency support
  • Work interdepartmentally with Asset Family Owners (AFO) to develop business requirements for an asset health and criticality scoring system in SAP and PLM for large and/or complex programs and projects. Provide advanced support to Gas Engineers and other specialists and projects teams as the subject matter expert related to the assigned asset
  • Support and lead the creation or modification of technical work procedures related to maintenance practice changes for large and/or complex programs and projects
  • Contribute toward Gas Safety Excellence goals by improving safety, integrity and reliability of the assigned assets and affordability for one or more asset families and one or more life cycles.
  • Troubleshoots technical issues and problems and recommend solutions to resolve the issues.
  • Presents findings and makes recommendations to AFO management
  • Completes complex assignments where there are few precedents or standards, and assignments that require integration of information from a variety of sources.
  • Participates in product evaluations
  • Has knowledge of applicable principles, codes, regulations, polices, and procedures.
  • Provides expertise on material failures including condition evaluation, damage assessments, and troubleshooting
  • Provide Engineering with sound technical reviews and recommendations that support APO directives
  • Provide advanced technical, and commissioning support for field and engineering activities of new and upgraded stations
  • Recommends and/or coordinates testing of materials, tools and equipment
  • Anticipates futures consequences and trends in asset performance and health.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Job-related experience, 5 years
  • Ability to travel up to 60 percent of working time

Desired:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience
  • Utility industry experience, gas, 7 years
  • Job-related technical experience, including with natural gas compression and engines
