Department Overview
Gas Operations oversees the natural gas transmission and distribution operations. The team maintains and operates 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipeline, 43,000 miles of distribution main, 3.6 million gas services, three PG&E-owned storage facilities with 102 BCF capacity, nine compressor stations with 175K HP, and 5,000 measurement and control facilities. Gas Operations is comprised of approximately 6,000 coworkers.
Position Summary
Prepares, conducts, and evaluates assessments for Engineering, Construction & Operations in accordance with work procedures, policies, and design standards. May also be involved in functions related to supporting and communicating assessment findings. Conducts Gas quality assessments both independently and as a team member. Compiles and reports out quality assessment results to other interested parties and verifies Operator Qualifications of assessed employees and instrument calibration records. Develops and updates quality standards. Monitors quality, identifies issues, reports findings, and recommends process improvements including identifying and communicating best practices found during assessments. May develop and deliver end-to-end process training in a one-on-one or group setting. Demonstrates leadership in safety through active participation and support of safety programs and takes a proactive approach to identify and correct safety hazards and work practices in the workplace.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job Headquarters. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $128,000
Bay Area Maximum: $218,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $122,000
California Maximum: $207,000
Job Responsibilities
- Independently leads all aspects of our Quality Management System (QMS) to include leveraging various senior leaders to present recommendations and achieve agreement on program strategy, significant improvements/changes, and/or resolution of major issues.
- Proactively advises Process and Quality Excellence (P&QE) leadership and employees regarding QMS.
- Proactively anticipates issues, develops, and presents recommended course of action.
- Leads change implementation including cross-functional communication and training.
- Develops, maintains, and improves internal controls primarily across, Gas Operations. Establishes effective trending capability. Performs internal and external benchmarking of metrics and quality performance.
- Independently develops business cases and manages budgets for quality and improvement projects and programs.
- Perform Field Quality Assessments of GPOM (Gas Pipeline Operations and Maintenance) Measurement and Control work.
- Conducts review of regulations, standards, procedures, records, data, and other documents relevant to assessment.
- Works with Executives and Directors to promote quality standards, improvement initiatives and the standardization of the workflow and common quality processes.
- Develop and implement strategies that lead/advance corporate quality and improvement.
- Leads large and complex projects working with cross-functional teams.
- Travel PG&E service territory - 50%.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience at journeyman status or 10 years equivalent experience in gas operations or quality management.
- Record of Gas Service Reviewers training completion
- CA Class C License, or equivalent
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of authoring/executing Gas System Clearances
- Strong knowledge of gas regulation and valve maintenance
- Experience with Gas Pipeline and Operations standards and procedures
- Knowledge of gas clearance safety protocols
- Experience in field work, gas systems, clearance standards and procedures
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQIA or CQA certification
