Department Overview

 

The Performance Measurement and Controls group, within the Vegetation Management (VM) Organization, supports the execution of programs that maintain state and federally-mandated vegetation clearance along PG&E’s distribution and transmission systems, and the delivery of specific vegetation management programs to reduce the risk, frequency, and consequence of catastrophic wildfires in northern California.

 

Position Summary

 

The Business Analyst, Principal reports to the manager of Performance Measurement and Controls.  This role supports VM’s oversight of a portfolio of Distribution and Transmission programs with an annual budget in excess of $1.3B.

 

This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to report to their assigned office location at least one day per week (potentially 2 – 3 days in the future). The remaining days may be worked remotely, depending on business needs. The headquarters location is Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, CA.

 

Responsibilities typically include many or all of the following:
•    Lead annual budget development across VM operational budget owners to meet programmatic objectives, budget requirements, and internal and external reporting requirements, and
•    Lead monthly financial performance measurement across VM operational budget owners to identify drivers of variance and mitigations.
•    Develop and maintain cost analysis and control procedures, including procedural documentation and testing protocols, that demonstrate the accuracy of financial information and conformance to PG&E procedures; and 
•    Develop and maintain procedures to increase the efficiency of data analysis and presentment to Budget Owners, from data extraction from SAP, through analysis and review with VM operational budget owners

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $128,000
Bay Area Mid-Point: $173,000
Bay Area Maximum: $218,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $122,000
California Mid-Point: $164,000
California Maximum: $207,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions. Presents findings and recommendations to senior leaders to gain agreement.
•    Develops highly complex data systems that have wide ranging impact and application across multiple departments. 
•    Manages major cross-functional projects and initiatives.
•    Works with senior management to support strategic planning and decision making
•    May provide direction and coaching to other Business Analysts.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

•    BS in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience required.
•    Minimum 8 years related work experience (financial operations, planning, cost/budget management, or regulatory cost recovery) 

 

Desired:

 

•    Subject-matter expertise in extracting, and analyzing data from financial and operational data systems, to measure performance of business operations, using Excel pivots, power query, PowerBi, SQL, and or MS Power Apps 
•    Subject-matter expertise in developing and maintaining financial and operational data structures with SAP Business Warehouse, or similar financial data systems
•    Exceptional communication, interpersonal influence and negotiation skills 
•    Experience developing financial tools and processes that leverage AI tools.
•    Track record of team leadership within cross-functional groups, including delivery within tight deadlines 
•    In depth knowledge of Vegetation Management or Utility operational or financial processes, regulatory requirements, critical success factors, goals and initiatives 
•    Expert analytical problem solving and decision-making skills to develop comprehensive solutions
•    Adaptable to changing business conditions and ambiguity 
•    MBA, post-graduate degree, of job-related equivalent experience
