Department Overview

 

The Compliance Programs team is responsible for overseeing the enterprise compliance management practices within the Gas organization and facilitating the enterprise Compliance Maturity Model.  The team works closely with Process and Functional Owners in asset management, operations, and compliance subject matter experts to provide support to understand Gas compliance risks and to advance compliance maturity. The team also collaborates with the Enterprise Ethics and Compliance team to mature compliance practices and assessments.

 

Position Summary

 

The successful candidate will be responsible to lead, implement, facilitate and provide assurance over the Gas organization’s compliance programs, procedures, and systems with an emphasis on the maturity of the enterprise Compliance Maturity Model.  They will provide an infrastructure that enables compliance, and that identifies, manages and mitigates operational risks that can affect the business.  The Expert analyst will be responsible for leading compliance initiatives aimed at improving or sustaining compliance program maturity.  This position will work closely with internal leaders and subject matter experts while interacting with other stakeholders outside the Gas Regulatory and Risk department and the Gas organization to facilitate understanding, development, engagement, and implementation of the enterprise Compliance Maturity Model.  Activities may also include: supporting the Compliance Controls program, leading or coordinating audits, preparing reports, developing and maintaining performance metrics, and conducting self-assessments. To drive acceptance of the compliance framework the incumbent may lead cross functional teams and engage in activities such as clarifying responsibilities and commitments, hand-offs, training and communication.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (San Ramon).

 

Incumbent should expect to travel to San Ramon, CA for projects, meetings, trainings, etc.

 

Estimated travel (mostly to San Ramon) would be approximately 10% of work schedule.

 

Position duties (may include but are not limited to)-

•           Develops and drives action plans to achieve and maintain Compliance Program Maturity

•           Helps drive continuous improvement in the compliance program; consistently demonstrates innovative new thinking focused on risk and compliance strategy, controls and implementation.

•           Helps develops risk and compliance program framework, guidelines, materials and other items that are used by the Gas organization.

•           Develops and maintains risk and compliance program inventory, forms, standards, procedures and other program documents.

•           Participates in internal and external benchmarking to implement best practices for LOB risk and compliance program.

•           Provides mentorship and training to less experienced or new team members.

•           Demonstrates broad expertise and applies advanced knowledge to wide- ranging risk and compliance issues.

•           Works with all levels of leadership (up to and including VP as necessary) across functions to influence decisions around compliance issues and risks.

•           Presents findings and makes recommendations to functional management, directors, officers and their employees.

•           Leads, and helps develop materials for, training and educating employees and leaders (up to directors) 1:1 or in small groups to ensure understanding of compliance requirements, risk management principles, internal audit issues and other needed items to support organization-wide awareness and facilitate LOB behaviors related to audit, risk and compliance.

•           Manages the Gas compliance requirements inventory in MetricStream, the Enterprise compliance management system.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum:$118,000

Bay Area Maximum:$188,000

 

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

•           Demonstrates broad expertise and applies advanced knowledge to wide- ranging risk and compliance issues.

•           Collaborates with leadership on development and maintenance of the risk register for their business unit.

•           Develops and presents risk mitigation alternatives and plans to other lines of business for moderate to complex operational risks with interdependencies across multiple LOBs.

•           Works with all levels of leadership (up to and including VP as necessary) across functions to influence decisions around compliance issues and risks.

•           May help manage some integrated planning deliverables related to risk and compliance.

•           Presents findings and makes recommendations to functional management, directors, officers and their employees.

•           Leads, and helps develop materials for, training and educating employees and leaders (up to directors) 1:1 or in small groups to ensure understanding of compliance requirements, risk management principles, internal audit issues and other needed items to support organization-wide awareness and facilitate LOB behaviors related to audit, risk and compliance.

 

 Qualifications-

 

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of Management, Risk and Insurance, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; or equivalent experience
  • Requires a minimum of seven years of experience in risk or compliance management, utility operations or related field

 

Desired:

  • Experience building a new process or program.
  • Audit experience.
  • Familiarity with compliance controls.
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly.
  • Solid technical knowledge of compliance and risk.
  • Good research and issue resolution skills.
  • Ability to assess and recommend solutions for assigned projects.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, perform and communicate activities both in written and verbal form.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and making educated and informed recommendations based on minimal data.
  • CCEP-Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional certification
  • PMP-Project Management Professional certification
