Department Overview

Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Operations actively engage in the Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems, and create standard work. Position Summary

The Portfolio Operations group is primarily responsible for Portfolio Management of PG&E’s annual Electric Workplan delivery in order to meet the Company’s obligations in a reliable and economic manner.  


As part of this function, the group is tasked with providing data driven execution insights, leveraging our Lean Playbook to monitor and improve our annual work delivery, and ensure appropriate Portfolio level management of our overall annual budget and workplan. This includes the integration of Lean Visual Management tools into Operating Review forums and ensures that data outputs are embedded into standard operational processes.  


Extracts operations data for analysis, leadership support and responses to ad hoc data requests. Maintains operations tools & databases to ensure that they are kept up-to-date. Develops, maintains and enhances operational metric database tools for the broader analytics teams. Identifies and solves current gaps in data requirements and ease of access to ensure fast and consistent responses to leadership inquiries.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the San Ramon/Oakland area. 


PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 

 

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum:$122,000
Bay Area Maximum:$194,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as team lead and provides direction to less experienced employees.
  • Analyzes data using various advanced statistical tools to develop complex ad hoc reports, statistics, trends and profiles.
  • Demonstrates and uses broad expertise in data processing and data analysis and applies this knowledge to a number of different issues.
  • Designs data analysis to achieve business objectives, process data, analyze data, write clear and concise data findings and tailor communications to specific audiences. Creates automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
  • Develops comprehensive reports and communicates clear, concise and actionable data analyses for clients.
  • Manages complex data analysis projects with limited supervision on only the most complex projects from initial request to presenting data results ensuring that the project is completed within budget and on-time.
  • Manages very complex data extracts and list pulls ensuring data accuracy. Manages extracting data and transferring the data from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts
  • Provides new and innovative solutions and recommendations to enhance database(s) with new data sources and improved data processes.
  • Works with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions.
  • Contributes to the building and maintenance of the T&S tool stack to improve visibility and consolidate planning across the organization.
  • Supports analytic development and functional tools for Distribution, Transmission, and Substation portfolios. Help build the foundation of the T&S tool stack to bring improved visibility into T&S work and a consolidated plan.  
  • Contributes to the visual management of KPI’s for Distribution, Transmission, and Substation Portfolios.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Job-related experience, 6 years

 

Desired:

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with utility operations
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel/Access (complex formulas, graphing, VBA), Python, Snowflake, Tableau, PowerBi, PowerApps, GitHub
  • Advanced skill in writing SQL queries using Oracle or Business Objects
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Influence skills
  • Advanced project management skills to lead cross functional team
