Department Overview

The Gas Transmission Portfolio Management and Engineering Department, Design Estimating group, is responsible for providing design for modifications to existing Gas Transmission Assets, as well as new pipeline and valve installations, system-wide throughout the PG&E territory.  Design support is provided to Gas Transmission Pipeline Engineering and Design, Pipeline Services and other Gas Transmission work streams. 

 

Position Summary

This is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and is subject to collective bargaining.

 

This position will be responsible for the creation of drawings, permit exhibits and supporting documentation required for the modification of the existing gas transmission system as well as new installations of gas transmission assets. Supported Programs include Strength Test, Pipeline Replacement, In Line Inspection, Digs and Corrosion among others.

 

The position requires up to 30% travel, mainly within PG&E’s Service Territory.

 

In this position, you will be required to obtain an Autodesk Certified User (ACU) certificate or a two-year technical degree in Drafting within the first 12 months of hire.

 

This position requires a 24 month lock per the ESC contract.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $48.58 per hour.  This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction plans and permit exhibits.
  • Make field sketches and prepare layouts for construction of additions or improvements to gas systems of such a nature that the plans and methods are embodied in existing standards, specifications, rules, and regulations.
  • Prepare final sketch or layout for more complex jobs from field notes prepared by an employee in a higher classification.

 

Qualifications 

Minimum:

  • Possess high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have a valid Class C California Driver's License or ability to obtain by first day of employment
  • Must obtain an Autodesk Certified User (ACU) certificate or a two-year technical degree in Drafting within the first 12 months of hire

 

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil or related engineering field or any combination of training, education, and work experience
  • 2 years of experience with AutoCAD (2009 or later version)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with web-based software (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)
  • 1 year of experience using SAP
  • 1 year of utility operations knowledge and experience.
