Position Summary
The Central Design & Estimating organization is responsible for Engineering, Design and Estimating of PG&E Electric Distribution systems. Candidates will lead engineering and design activities by ensuring standards are followed, adhering to the engineering and work prioritization/approval process, managing and controlling the scope of work, maintaining a focus on accuracy, design criteria and constructability while ensuring customer and regulatory expectations are met or exceeded.
Candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely, accurate and quality execution of capital maintenance tags, System Hardening projects and large capacity work with in their designated region
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location based on business need. Travel for this position will be approximately 20% with occasional overnight stays.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $132,000.00
Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $179,000.00
Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $226,000.00
Minimum Base Salary (California) $125,000.00
Mid Base Salary (California) $170,000.00
Maximum Base Salary (California) $215,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Provides management of engineering and design activities to ensure consistent timely, cost-effective designs, meeting customer service dates by having key interface with Work Management and construction, including contractors.
- Consistently monitor engineering activities to meet service dates.
- Manage technical employees to ensure adherence to company standards, policies and procedures by members of the workgroup, and enforce all applicable company, city, state and federal safety rules and regulations.
- Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high-performance culture and a learning organization.
- Lead a management team in promoting diversity. Serve as a change agent for business initiatives and assure the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions and develop technical capabilities in the organization.
- Establish, maintain and improve relationships with other departments.
- Establishes production requirements to execute and achieve plan objectives.
- Implements standardized tools, processes, and work products for electric engineering and design work.
- Builds a defined backlog of completed design packages for gas distribution construction work.
- Recruit/select, communicate expectations, foster employee engagement, coach, develop, mentor, recognize and reward employees in order to drive performance and results.
- Manages Supervisor employees.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Engineering
- 8 years of job-related experience
- Utility industry experience
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Leadership experience, job-related, 2 years
- Knowledge of utility industry safety practices and requirements.
- Knowledge of the California Public Utility Commission General Orders (GO) 95, 128
- Knowledge of electric distribution construction practices.
- Knowledge of estimating approval process.
- Working knowledge of the Work Management Process, SAP and
- Working knowledge of bargaining unit contracts
- Good communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to effectively build relationships and manage subordinates.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP
