Position Summary:
The Construction Manager is responsible for construction and improvement projects in the gas transmission system. The Construction Manager identifies contract worthy projects, consults on project feasibility and project site details, coordinates with construction crews, oversees project inspectors, and on a project specific basis performs construct ion oversight. The incumbent may also prepare job packages and construction estimates, conduct job walks, and meet with bidders, contractors, and governing agencies. The Construction Manager ensures projects arecompleted per company standards, engineering design, regulatory guidelines, permits and schedule

 

Job Responsibilities:
•Applies basic knowledge to assist in construction management processes.
•Ensures contractors follow their approved site-specific safety plans. Enforces project environmental/permit conditions and all safety regulations. Assists in the pre-construction project cycle, accompanies team on project job walks and offer constructability reports when tasked.
•Assists in weekly construction and
progress meetings and publishes meeting notes with field records on a project basis. Maintains a positive relationship with construction superintendents and project managers updating them as part of the project construction team.
•Manages a construction project
(depending on complexity and location), while overseeing an inspection team comprised of 1-10 inspectors.
Coordinates with team to ensure field inspectors are 100% utilized and properly operator qualified for specific task work.
•Ensures written field RFIs are timely, answered and maintained in the system
Writes field instructions as necessitated by the RFI process.
•Approves construction contractors’
weekly progress reports and pay requests. Verifies installed progress and track quantities on a weekly basis.
•Seeks assistance and direction from
engineering and project management by communicating design issues. Offers constructability for any pending field issues. Seeks assistance in making decisions for scope changes affecting cost and/or schedule.
•Assists GC Field Engineer to verify the content of the test data and other As- Built documents for accuracy and completeness.
•Within the allotted time frame, captures
accurate documentation of billing, time payments, closing jobs, inspection records, change orders and other required documentation; ensures appropriate transmittal and internal storage.

 

Qualifications:
Minimum:
•    Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
•    Less than 3 years of relevant experience.

 

Desired:
•1 year working experience in the field of Industrial Engineering or Construction.
•Working Knowledge of Primavera P3/P5/P6 scheduling software, and Primavera UNIFIER or similar software
•Ability to read and interpret engineering design documents
•General computer skills in Word and Excel along with daily routine experience of e-mail communications.
