Position Summary

Plans, organizes, and manages the implementation of PG&E's distribution capacity programs and initiatives. Oversees engineers who develop PG&E’s electric distribution substation capacity projects (MWC 46) and manage the department’s line capacity (MWC 06) portfolio. Partners with key department personnel, senior management, engineering teams, business partners and others to successfully implement the company's capacity program strategies and initiatives.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. Three days in the office a week. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum: $​147,000.

Bay Area Maximum: $251,000.​

&/OR​

California Minimum: $​140,000.

California Maximum: $​238,000.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures system capability meets demand with accurate, economical and timely area load forecasts and proposed capacity additions.
  • Serves as Asset Planning Program Manager for the Electric Distribution Substation Capacity (MWC 46) program, including portfolio prioritization and review/approval of project authorizations.
  • Supports execution teams and Capacity Delivery Center with project scoping, engineering, and delivery.
  • Supports regulatory filings including the Grid Needs Assessment (GNA) and requirements in the High DER Proceeding. 
  • Collaborates with Substation Asset Management, Substation Engineering, Transmission Planning, System Protection, and Integrated Grid Planning to ensure alignment of investment plans with long term area capacity needs.
  • Participates in area specific or system-wide initiatives as an independent contributor engineer in addition to leadership responsibilities.
  • Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, rewards and recognition.
  • Responsible for developing and updating Distribution Planning Standards and Guidelines.
  • Manages represented employees.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent related experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience as an Electric Distribution Engineer or equivalent, including, but not limited to distribution capacity planning, forecasting distribution peak demand, distribution reliability engineering, distribution system design, distribution operations, distributed energy resource (DER) development, and grid innovation.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering-Electrical-Power Systems or job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with CYME, LoadSEER, Powerbase, EDGIS, ETGIS & EDPI.
  • PE-Professional Engineer license.
