The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.
Position Summary
The Supervisor for Distribution System Operations Engineering & Innovation organization would lead a team conducting engineering analysis and provide system operations expertise for different initiatives within the company, such as DERMs, ADMS, EPSS, FLISR, CYME, etc. This leadership role focuses on strategically developing engineers and operational tools to meet the needs of rapidly changing grid requirements. It demands innovative thinking with “can-do” attitude, leaning-in to have the crucial conversations and ability to create joint accountability from diverse stakeholders to help succeed the system operations organization.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $144,000.
Bay Area Maximum: $244,000.
&/OR
California Minimum: $137,000.
California Maximum: $232,000.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and accountable for Distribution System Operations Engineers supporting company initiatives or special projects such as DERMs, ADMS, EPSS, FLISR, CYME, etc.
- Represents Distribution System Operations Engineering on the Grid Council to ensure design standards and operational procedures are written with “grid of the future” in mind.
- Coordinates ongoing training and education for Distribution Operations Engineers to ensure familiarity to new standards, engineering tools and regulatory compliance.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with the following internal organizations: Transmission System Operations, Electric Program Management, Electric Distribution Planning and Protection, System Protection, Grid Edge Innovations, and others as required.
- Acts as support and consulting engineering during emergency situations such as major storms, PSPS events, heat waves, and other abnormal conditions.
- Advocates for Distribution System Operations Engineering at the front end of transmission and distribution capital projects.
- Supervises, coaches and develops engineering staff. Develops and administers performance management plans that drive high performance.
- May have special responsibility for compliance and regulatory efforts including, but not limited to, collecting evidence for CAP analysis, participating in investigations, reporting incidents, and overseeing the writing of operating documents and procedures.
- May fill in for supervisors in the, NDCC, CDCC and SDCC on occasion.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering-Electrical or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- 5 years of experience in an operating capacity with distribution systems or related power systems experience
Desired:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering - Power Systems or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with ADMS, EPSS, CYME, EDGIS and Powerbase.
- PE-Professional Engineer license.
