Department Overview

Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Operations actively engage in Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems and create standard work. By working together as One Electric. One Team. We are delivering for our hometowns. Electric Operations is comprised of approximately 6,500 coworkers.

 

Position Summary

Conducts research, data analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting in support of Electric Operations' decision making, strategy and operations. Participate in business process improvement, quality control and other initiatives. Develops and implements workforce planning and analytics using data visualization tools, gathers and analyzes operational and financial information, and conducts various analysis.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 
A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $128,000
Bay Area Maximum: $218,000

OR

California Minimum: $122,000

California Maximum: $207,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops highly complex data systems that have wide ranging impact and application across multiple departments.
  • Manages major cross-functional projects and initiatives
  • May provide direction and coaching to other Business Analysts.
  • Performs analysis on the most complex data models that have cross- functional impact.
  • Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions. Presents findings and recommendations to senior leaders to gain agreement.
  • Works with senior management to support strategic planning and decision making.
  • Develops and maintains workforce planning models. Incorporates actual and projected internal workforce changes and external labor market factors into models.
  • Prepares cost structure analysis, including cost benchmarks within the electric utility industry.
  • Partners with all levels across Electric Operations to gather and analyze operational and financial information to formulate recommendations for workforce strategy and development.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to break down complex business problems and deliver actionable solutions.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience required
  • Job-related experience, 8 years

 

Desired:

  • Proven experience managing complex analytics projects and delivering value-driven solutions to a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing workforce analytics solutions using Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, Power Query, and advanced visualization techniques
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in strategic planning, or other related
  • Operations experience in gas and/or electric
  • Utility industry experience
  • Experience in communication
  • Experience in regulatory environment
  • Resource planning experience
  • Experience Power Apps and Power Automate
  • Experience in creating Lean Data Visuals
  • Familiarity with predictive analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning as applied to workforce data
  • Advanced user of Excel, with the ability to learn new tools and technologies as required
