Department Overview

PG&E’s Undergrounding Program is leading the effort to underground 10,000 miles of electric distribution lines throughout PG&E’s service territory, with the goal of reducing the risk of wildfires for our customers and hometowns. We are supported by a cross-functional group of coworkers focused on the safe and affordable execution of work. 

 

Position Summary

The Strategy, Innovation and Partnership Leadership team identifies, monitors and develops plans to manage emerging issues and technologies that present challenges and opportunities for PG&E. The team engages with internal stakeholders to collect information, build internal capabilities, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, and works externally to establish partnerships and collaborate on new technologies which will benefit the Company. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
 

A reasonable salary range is:

  • Annual Minimum:    $155,000.00
  • Annual Minimum:  $209,000.00
  • Annual Maximum:   $263,000.00             

Job Responsibilities

  • Contributes to department budget development and forecasts including GRC and other regulatory filings. Represents PG&E on industry and research organization boards to generate new funding opportunities, influence industry practices and regulations, and enhance the company's position as an innovator in the industry. Leads and inspires teams in charge of detecting, assessing and deploying innovation and/or strategy across PG&E.
  • Develops partnerships with and communicates regularly with operations leadership, as well as regulatory agencies (e.g., California Public Utilities Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, California Energy Commission), and non-government organizations (e.g., the Environmental Defense Fund).
  • Creates programs that map R&D and innovation projects against potential threats identified in the Operations Risk Register.
  • Leads and establishes future growth-focused goals and translates their use into standards, work methods, and tools/equipment. Provides strategic technical direction of new technologies, notably alternative forms of fuels in the energy industry. Identifies and implements innovative solutions using new and diverse technologies in the Operations business that improve performance measured in public and work safety, customer satisfaction, cost effectiveness, environmental impact, regulatory compliance, and communication.
  • Develops processes and procedures for the timely development, evaluation and integration of new products; Leads cross-functional teams in a Center of Excellence approach within the company and with key external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Up to two years Energy sector experience.
  • Up to two years developing and executing a strategic R&D plan.
  • Up to two years in innovation ideation, management, valorization and deployment.

Desired:

  • Graduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience
