Position Summary

The Field Engineering Intern performs technical work associated with construction activities such as ordering and receiving material; initiation of right-of-way acquisition, licenses, and permits; assisting Senior Field Engineering Technicians and Field Engineers; preparing construction notes; inspection and performance of other related duties. Under the supervision of an employee in a higher classification, may assist in planning, scheduling and cost-control activities, such as operation and maintenance of scheduling, cost-control and reporting systems, performs schedule and cost data indexing and coding activities, verifies schedule and cost-input information; utilizes the computer to edit schedule and cost information; checks and corrects completed schedule and cost reports prepares and distributes reports as necessary. Maintains schedule and cost control files. 

 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.52 to $35.37 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Compiles and summarizes program information to track progress on commitments.
  • Performs field visits as applicable based on the field condition and/or any issues with the information provided from the field.
  • Manages, modifies and updates existing databases.
  • Maintains public and employee safety on site at all times by promoting a positive safety culture, exhibiting an absolute commitment to safety for self and others, and by ensuring all applicable safety rules, regulations and standards are followed.
  • Ensures contractors follow their approved site-specific safety plans.
  • Coordinates and leads activities in support of inspections or audits.
  • Orders and coordinates materials and ensures contract crews have sufficient material to complete the job on time.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering at an accredited University 
  • Willingness to travel 50% within PG&E service territory
  • A valid California Drivers License
