Department Overview

The Wildfire, Emergency and Operations (WEO) organization is responsible for oversight of PG&E’s wildfire operations and associated mitigations. The organization is responsible for the development and maintenance of consistent processes and work standards associated with sustainable wildfire and emergency response preparedness operations in line with our regulatory policies and practices. WEO partners with leaders in Energy Delivery and other parts of the business to develop and recommend a strategic direction for emergency preparedness, emergency response and public partnerships.

 

Position Summary


The Specialist will lead in developing training materials and scenario-based training for Distribution System Operators and apprentices. They'll oversee the ADMS/DMS Training Environment and be a vital part of a diverse team of specialist, also collaborating with leadership to enhance training programs. Additionally, they'll manage job task analysis for curriculum redesign, assist with training on switching operations, and ensure the Apprentice Distribution Administrative Manual is current.

 

Position will require approximately 30% of travel time in work schedule with overnight stays.

 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

California Minimum:$120,000
California Maximum: $190,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.


Job Responsibilities


•    Provides subject matter expertise in the development of applicable training materials to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in supporting the goals and standards of Distribution System Operations.
•    Assumes a lead role in designing, developing and implementing scenario-based training and simulation for the System Dispatchers in the operation of the integrated PG&E distribution system to ensure the grid is operated in a safe and reliable manner while minimizing costs to customers and the company.
•    Oversees the usage of the Company’s computer-based simulator (BRICK) and the training simulator for System Operators and System Dispatchers.
•    Leads the design and development of authentic assessment tools for each training session that adhere to NERC Continuing Education requirements and collaborates with team members to maintain accurate and up-to-date NERC training records.
•    Partners with leadership to ensure the maintenance and accuracy of existing training programs.
•    Assists with designing, testing and implementing power system model changes to the Energy Management System (EMS), including power flow, state estimation, contingency analysis, generation, SCADA, communications and supporting applications.
•    Leads job task analysis for curriculum redesign initiatives.
•    Manages special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications-

 

Minimum Qualifications:  


•    High School or GED
•    7 years of related experience including 2 years previous experience in one of the following:
o    System Dispatcher or Operator on an electric system.
o    Technical Training development & delivery
o    IT support including simulation design
o    Power System Engineering

Desired Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s Degree, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science
•    Master’s Degree (Education)
•    CTT Certification
•    Journeyman System Operator Certification
