Department Overview
Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.
Position Summary
Prepares plans and schedules for work and resources by incorporating target financial objectives, the total maintenance and construction needs for the region and known resource constraints.
This position is flexible within Redding, Chico, Marysville, and Auburn. Headquarters will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.
This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Minimum Base Salary (California) $ 116,000.00
Maximum Base Salary (California) $ 165,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Builds efficient construction schedules to ensure the effective utilization of available resources. Validates that work plan hours and units are completed and correctly reported. Monitors major work category (MWC) spend rate and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Ensures that capital budget meets the needs of incoming and outgoing projects. Makes decisions that weigh financial needs of the department with outside project orders.
- Provides excellent customer service to clients, both internal and external. Ensures planned outage coordinators’ customer commitments are met and communication protocols are followed.
- Supervises all M&C clerical functions, including timely job closing, ensuring accurate timecard processing and meal charging. Oversees pre-arranged overtime (POT) and emergency overtime (EOT) required documentation for clerical and construction resources. Monitors PCC charging for accuracy.
- Ensures purchase order processes are adhered to in accordance with corporate accounting guidelines.
- Ensures mandated training is coordinated for all local clerical, construction and scheduling resources and properly documented.
- Partners with superintendents, peers, staff departments, matrix organizations and outside agencies to improve overall business results.
- Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.
- May ensure local M&C Coordinator job packages are complete and ready for construction, all dependencies are met, and long lead material is ordered.
- May partner with city, local, and state officials to ensure proper permit release and follow-up.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Supervises 10 to 15 bargaining unit, hourly employees.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 5 years related experience with exposure to planning, scheduling, operations, and/or maintenance and construction functions
- Travel throughout a region territory. Be available to work after hours and on weekends as required.
- Subject to random DOT drug and alcohol testing
Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Construction Management HR or related field
- Experience in capital, labor, and operations management / budgeting
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Experience in creating or overseeing the creation of a work schedule

- Basic financial planning and budgeting knowledge.
