Department Overview

The Paso Robles - Warehouse is a facility within Materials Operations, which is a section of the Supply Chain Department. Materials Operations consists of three DCs and two gas pipe and fitting related facilities. The DCs provide materials related support to various Operating Department customers throughout the PG&E Territory.

 

Material Lead Drivers, located at the DCs have been support the 131 Division Service Centers, General Construction Yards, CGT Compressor Stations, Power Plants, TES and General Office. These Material Lead Drivers serve as the operational link between the Materials Distribution Centers and the Operating Departments to ensure all material needs are satisfied.

 

Materials Operations provides emergency response whenever and wherever necessary to support restoration activities.

 

Position Summary

This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E.  This job is subject to collective bargaining.

 

A Materials Lead Driver performs routine duties without direct supervision relating to ordering, receiving, disbursing and salvage of materials, including stocking shelves and bins, and preparing material for shipment.  They will operate various equipment including, but not limited to forklift and other materials handling equipment and drive company vehicles up to 18-wheel semi-truck.  A Material Lead Driver will perform computer input, operate office equipment, follow all safety rules and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

 

The individual will be responsible for reviewing job materials/kits, backorders, picking and staging material requests in stalls (e.g. EPCM, truck stock, etc) and making deliveries to job sites for emergency support.  Receive stock orders, perform goods issues and place replenishment orders in SAP and perform other related warehouse management functions, as necessary. 

 

The hours of the position are Monday - Friday 06:00 am to 14:00 pm. 

 

This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $56.89 per hour.  This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate an 18-wheel semi-truck, 3-ton flat bed truck, and pick up trucks of various transmission configurations to transport materials and products to Company sites; drives to local or remote distribution centers, service centers, and/or job sites; may drive to meetings and training; drives on freeways, streets, paved and unpaved roadways, dirt paths; travels both day and night in all types of incremental weather (snow, fog, rain, sleet); visually observes roadway, load balance, and uses defensive driving skills; uses two hands to operate landing gear to manually hand crank and adjust height of trailer; reaches under trailer to pull pin for uncoupling tractor-trailer
  • Use forklift to load and unload materials onto and off of a trailer
  • Conduct a visual pre-operations inspection of the truck and tractor-trailer and write/Enter a daily vehicle inspection report (Electronic)
  • Fuel vehicle at fuel stations; wash vehicle windshield and side mirrors.
  • Communicate with supervisor, lead person, and other employees to get instructions about load, delivery location, and instructions pertaining to load; talks with mechanics regarding truck maintenance; and respond to, receive, and make requests from supervisor, distribution center personnel, and other employees.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
  • Must possess a valid Class A California Driver's Permit by Day 1 of hire
  • Must possess a valid DMV Medical Card by Day 1 of hire
  • Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
  • Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
  • Ability to work at varying level of heights
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, weekends, and/or overtime (scheduled or ad hoc)
  • Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds a minimum of one time a day
  • Willingness to work in remote locations

 

Desired:

  • 2 years of work experience as a Class A driver
  • Demonstrated work experience in warehouse or shipping environment
  • Demonstrated experience using SAP
  • Certified to operate a forklift
  • Current or previous PG&E employee
  • Current or previous Hiring Hall employee
