Department Overview

The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure all manners of electric engineering—including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning—are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.

 

Position Summary

Oversees the developing, maintaining and updating work methods and procedure documentation. Provides support to front line supervisors and field employees in the execution of maintenance/construction work procedure activities supporting the safe and reliable delivery of energy and customer service. Partners with PG&E Academy to ensure work procedures are integrated into training curriculum materials and programs. Provides oversight of the technical documentation management processes.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $163,000

Bay Area Maximum: $277,000​

OR​

California Minimum: $155,000

California Maximum: $263,000​

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the development of Work Methods and Procedures for assigned line of business. Approves documents while ensuring they meet regulatory compliance with agencies such as: Cal & Fed OSHA, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and California Independent System Operator (CAISO). Reports out on regular basis to Sr. VP Electric Ops on the status of these tasks.
  • May step in to provide subject matter expertise to technical field support and is ultimately responsible for decisions that need to be made about maintenance program changes; provides final approval.
  • Drives the process to obtain variance to regulation on relevant work methods and procedures.
  • May oversees Human Performance initiatives including performance tools, Ensures work procedure error rates are generated monthly in score card metrics.
  • May be assigned to lead the QC and QA teams to ensure appropriate programs exist and gauges results and effectiveness of procedural adherence and training programs.
  • Works with PG&E Academy to ensure work procedures are incorporated into new or existing training programs.
  • Develops the Work Methods & Procedures team to achieve the department goals and the individual’s development objectives.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Utility industry experience, 8 years
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent
  • Must be certified Journeyman Lineman

 

Desired:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Electrical Technician Journey certification
  • Electrician Journey certification
  • Lineman Journey certification
