Department Overview

The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure all manners of electric engineering—including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning—are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.

 

Position Summary

Provides support to Technical Document Management specialist and Standards and Work Methods specialist to update work methods and procedure documentation. Assist in migrating entire team from Sharepoint to Microsoft Teams and drive changes for the org to streamline processes. Opportunity to go into the field and observe crews working on distribution assets and visit sites that support the end-to-end process.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.52 to $35.37.

 

Responsibilities

  • Migrate from Sharepoint to Teams and train Standards and Work Methods Specialists
  • Assist in updating work methods and procedures
  • Mapping material codes and working with Estimating to identify areas of opportunity
  • Field and site visits to learn about the end-to-end processes

Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Electric Operations organization through the work they will be performing.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering field at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.

Desired:

  • EIT or FE certification
  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Construction experience in utilities, municipalities, or engineering consultation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
