Department Overview
The Enterprise Project Governance (EPG) department supports decision-making and leads governance processes, standards, and reporting for major projects and strategic programs across PG&E on behalf of external customers and shareholders. EPG advises the Gate Review Board (GRB), comprised of company directors and other leaders, on key considerations associated with projects and programs, including safety, risk reduction, extent of condition, environmental and community impacts, long-term financial forecasting, and alignment with company objectives. The GRB approves over $2.5B in capital spend annually and oversees the performance of 90+ major projects and programs. The GRB also reviews Board-level projects ($250M and more).
EPG is responsible for driving project management best practices across the company via governance oversight of enterprise project management standards and procedures, as well as reporting for governance committees, the Senior Leadership Team, and the Boards of Directors. In addition, EPG develops performance metrics and visual controls to support effective execution of project and program related capital investment plans to improve outcomes for our customers and reduce risk to the system.
Position Summary
This position is headquartered in Oakland, CA. Position is "hybrid" with the expectation of coming into the office 1x week (subject to change due to business need).
Translate complex information based on business requirements EPG Standards, procedures, processes, user manuals, training materials, job aids, and quick reference guides. Collaborating with and gather information from internal and external clients to develop user-friendly documentation. Performs document editing, editing written materials prepared by other writers, document lifecycle management, basic web setup and document publishing.
Major Responsibilities Include:
EPG Standards and Procedures Development
- Provides subject matter expertise guidance for document/content development for internal/external clients.
- Designs, develops, and manages SharePoint sites for EPG Standards, procedures, processes, user manuals, training materials, job aids, and quick reference guides
- Designs document management and retention processes and maintains departmental document systems, in compliance with PG&E’s Records and Information Management guidance
- Creates EPG Standards, procedures, processes,, user manuals, training materials, job aids, and quick reference guides
- Uses PG&E GDLI (Guidance Document Library) standards in developing EPG Standards, procedures and associated documentationsEdits documentation for content and compliance
Document Management
- Writes task analyses and documentation plans to establish project goals, content, parameters, and deadlines in relation to new technical document
- Manages EPG Standards, procedures, processes,, user manuals, training materials, job aids, and quick reference guides development. Tracks deliverables, schedules, and resource requirements per documentation plan.
Document Lifecycle
- Interviews and collaborates with subject matter experts, develops document content, applies Guidance Document Library principals, facilitates document reviews and revisions, and manages ongoing documentation issues and lifecycle.
- Documentation Reviews - Ensures the technical accuracy, quality, and business compliance
- Produces final documents as defined in the documentation plan and creates and maintains document and systems.
- Ensures compliance with PG&E’s Records and Information Management Policy, Standards and Information and Records Retention Schedule
Deliverables
- Produces EPG Standards, procedures, processes,, user manuals, training materials, job aids, and quick reference guides
- Supports other members of the EPG Standards & Controls team, including Monitoring & Compliance
- Supports development of monthly EPG Steering Committee presentations
- Develops and maintains reports on status of
- Takes complex technical information and make it clear and easy-to-understand for a non-technical audience.
- Develops Word, Excel, and PowerPoint templates.
- Develops Graphics: flowcharts and organization charts
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates broad expertise, knowledge and technical competence and applies to wide ranging issues
- Develops new and innovative technical documentation tools, processes and methods.
- Develops and implements communications, training and change management in support of major change management and implementation initiatives
- Leads large, cross-functional and complex technical documentation projects.
- May act as a team lead and/or coach to developing employees.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $114,000
Bay Area Maximum: $182,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $108,000
California Maximum: $173,000
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in English, Technical Writing, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- Six years of related work experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in content management, process improvement, and project management in the development of a wide range of business documentation deliverables
- Advanced knowledge and application of documentation technologies and processes
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experienced in the use of MS Office, SharePoint and PowerBI
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lead project teams
