The Information Technology (IT) organization provides a strategic IT orientation, assesses and acquires relevant technologies, and identifies opportunities to use information technology to provide improved levels of service to PG&E employees and customers. Enterprise Strategy and Architecture (ES&A), within IT, provides strategic direction and an innovation on-ramp for new technologies in order to enable the important work that PG&E does.

 

Position Summary

The IT Technical Writer, Associate position involves developing and editing documents for internal and external clients, updating content on Windows SharePoint Services sites, and supporting document management structures. Responsibilities include identifying documentation needs, collaborating with Subject Matter Experts, and producing final documents using standardized templates. Deliverables include editing technical manuals, compliance materials, collateral materials, and instructional materials. Qualifications include a high school diploma (minimum) or a BA/BS in a related field (desired), 1-3 years of relevant experience, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with MS Office, SharePoint, Documentum, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.

 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

The salary range for this position is from $60,000 to $90,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Content Management

  • Develops and edits documents for internal/external clients
  • Updates content on Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) sites
  • Supports document management structures, adheres to document retention processes, and assists in maintaining departmental document systems

 

Document/Project Management

  • Identifies client’s documentation/business needs, scope, audience, deadlines and key stakeholders for internal departmental projects
  • Contributes to solutions as required
  • Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on document development and editing
  • Edits document content and participates in reviews and revisions
  • Produces final internal departmental documents using standardized templates and established formats

 

Deliverables

  • Edits technical Manuals and Guides, including Administration, Configuration, Installation, Operation, Standards, Guidelines, Procedure, Process, and User
  • Edits Compliance material, including Configuration Manuals (CMs), Process Manuals (PMs), Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs), Operations Level Agreements (OLAs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Edits collateral material, such as executive/customer presentations, communication plans, brochures, white papers, and leave-behinds
  • Edits instructional material, including manuals, tutorials, job aids, etc.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, English, Technical Writing or any related field

 

Desired:

  • 1-3 years of experience in content management, process improvement, and project management in the development of a wide range of IT documentation deliverables
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiar with MS Office
  • Basic knowledge of MS SharePoint, Documentum, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Basic understanding of IT platforms
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and other stakeholders
