Position Summary

The Electric AKM Foundational Data Products (EAFDP) program enables Engineering, Operations, and Analytics teams to seamlessly conduct data-driven analysis, planning and decision-making by building a portfolio of high-quality, trusted and integrated datasets in shared data platforms such as Foundry and Snowflake.  All data relevant to each line of business is consolidated and curated within Foundry, and linked to other relevant data, so that PG&E employees and regulators have timely access to the data they need to conduct their operations and risk assessments, and plan for the future.

The process of producing datasets that represent commonly defined, derived concepts and linking these to core asset, network, and operations datasets has uncovered data quality insights previously unavailable or difficult to identify at scale.  It has also brought new opportunities to visualize data relationships to improve user understanding in the ontology ""digital twin"".

This internship provides hands-on experience gleaning data quality insights from new and improved data relationships, gathering information on the potential impact of these issues, and converting your observations into actionable data quality improvement requests.  The role offers an opportunity to learn about a wide range of Electric Utility data supporting a wide variety of teams and use cases, and about how patterns in the data relate back to real-world experiences and impacts to Engineering and Operations teams. The intern will work alongside AKM data engineers and analysts to elevate our insights about this data through analysis, data engineering, and exploration with business stakeholders.  The ideal candidate is someone who is curious, loves to follow patterns to connect a bigger picture, and has a keen attention to detail.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $23.08 to $36.42.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with the Project Lead to craft the scope of their internship in the first week to make sure the experience meets their goals and interests as well as the needs of the program. Some areas they may work on include but are not limited to:

• Data Quality Analysis & Reporting: Prepare, organize, and create report out information (text & visuals) on a variety of source data quality insights discovered through development and use of existing asset and network-related derived foundational data products.

• Stakeholder Engagement/Communication: Collaborate with AKM FDP data users to capture the value of resolving particular data quality issues and to identify desired ontology object view improvements.

• Product Testing/Evaluation: Assist FDP data engineers and tech lead in testing new FDP development for accuracy and completeness, including mechanisms to distinguish derived product test findings from incoming data quality findings.

• Product Development: Develop new or enhance existing Foundry ontology object views (UI visuals) to improve user access and understanding of available data.

To close out the internship, the intern will be asked to provide a final presentation about your learnings, accomplishments, and recommendations.
