Corporate Accounting provides accurate and timely delivery of the company’s consolidated financial statements, variance analyses, account reconciliations, and other analyses that support the filing of Forms 10Qand 10K. The work of our department is key to the Company and provides challenge and variety including application of appropriate accounting treatment and analyses under GAAP, FERC, Tax and SEC reporting.

 

Position Summary

 

We are seeking a highly motivated, capable Accounting Supervisor to lead the Revenue Accounting team. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams within the Company to ensure accuracy of assigned areas and accounts, including but not limited to Customer and Non-Energy Accounts Receivables, Allowance for Doubtful Accounts, Customer Advances for Capital Projects and Revenue Reporting. You should have strong leadership and analytical skills to lead a small but dynamic team of finance professionals. 

 

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office once a week, or more, based on business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

A reasonable salary range is:


Bay Area Minimum:     $105,000.00
Bay Area Maximum:    $150,700.00

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Supervises the monitoring and development of monthly reports and recording of assets, liabilities and/or other transactions:

  • Reviews month-end closing process (journal entries and reconciliations).
  • Review monthly variance analysis.
  • Review supporting documentation for SEC and regulatory filings.

 

Reviews and interprets policies, reporting requirements, rules and regulations:

  • Provides guidance to direct reports in the process of researching and resolving issues. May also lead the resolution of more complex accounting / disclosure issues.
  • Identifies, researches, and coordinates the resolution of accounting issues.
  • Provides guidance on appropriate techniques and methodologies for analyzing regulatory decisions.
  • Assists in development of research objectives, approach design and analysis on impacting accounting issues.

 

Assists in setup of processes, procedures and other improvement efficiencies:

  • Assists analysts and senior analysts in identifying areas for process improvement at the desk level.
  • Identifies process improvements to reduce risk during account review, improve effectiveness of communications with business partners, and gain efficiencies during monthly close review procedures.
  • Maintains and improves relationships with key business partners to gather information to ensure timelines of capturing transactions in the financial statements and resolving potential issues.
  • Supervises and contributes to the department and company projects initiatives to improve processes and understands / translates financial impacts.

 

Leadership:

  • Actively communicates issues and key activities to management.
  • Coordinates activities across multiple functional groups; manages and works collaboratively in task force teams.
  • Supervises, mentors, and develops a team of employees
  • Assists with the development and implementation of strategy in support of department goals.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • BS degree in Accounting or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of relevant accounting experience

 

Desired:

 

  • Supervisory experience with an ability to coach and manage staff
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Eight years of relevant experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Knowledge of GAAP and SEC
  • Ability to coordinate research and provide perspective on potential implications for line of business and/or company
  • Solid understanding of technical accounting
  • Solid understanding of FERC uniform chart of accounts
  • Ability to evaluate potential opportunities.
  • Problem solving with a proven ability in creative thinking and issue resolution
  • Ability to present the rules and regulations behind assigned accounts to department management
  • Ability to use proper analytical techniques to break down and solve complex problems
  • Able to communicate highly complex ideas and findings to diverse audiences
  • Ability to successfully lead and develop employees
