Department Overview

 

Electric Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity to our customers and is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's Electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

 

Position Summary

 

PG&E is building its long-term strategy for Substation Operations and seeing the following responsibilities:

  • Assist Program Managers with planning, tracking, and coordination of Substation Operations Initiative workstreams
  • Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, KPIs, and routine reports to monitor program progress
  • Help collect, clean, and consolidate data from multiple sources to support operational and program analysis
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, notes, and follow‑up action items for program reviews and working sessions
  • Assist with preparing presentation materials and summaries for leadership and stakeholder updates
  • Track action items, risks, and issues, and escalate items as needed under Program Manager guidance
  • Support process mapping efforts and documentation of current‑state and future‑state operational workflows
  • Maintain organized project documentation, files, and artifacts to support effective information management
  • Assist with incident investigation support activities, including data gathering and summary documentation

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.88 to $36.42.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Environmental Studies or related field from an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards degree during and/or  after the internship in a full-time capacity returning back to school in the fall 2026 full-time.
  • Valid drivers license to drive around PG&E service territory as needed to visit field offices

 

Desired:

  • Advanced skills in PowerBI, R, and Python
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics
  • Strong communication skills, high initiative, and leadership potential.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with tools and methods for project management and continuous improvement
  • Strong organizational strategy or experience
  • Experience in operations, constructions or a similar environment
