Department Overview

Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s Customer Operations and Enablement organization develops and leads a customer centric operations organization that spans the entire “meter to cash” process, including meter testing, customer billing, payment processing, credit and collection policy, pricing strategy and implementation and operations.  

 

Position Summary

We are looking for a candidate to help manage various aspects of the Smart Meters programs.  In this key role - you will work with the smart meter program team to ensure that the program is operating effectively within the Meter Services and Engineering organization and across the enterprise.  


This position requires a strong ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and engage with a diverse set of internal & external stakeholders.  PG&E is looking for a professional that is organized, and work with cross functional teams in a fast-paced environment.  A strong candidate should also possess a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and excellent communications capabilities.   

 

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

The hourly rate for a bachelor’s degree ranges from $20.33 to $29.81 and for a master’s degree is $35.37.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support updating meter/meter accessories specifications, engineering, maintenance and construction standards, and work procedures.
  • Provide support for training materials to field metering personnel and third-party contractor.
  • Prepare or support equipment failure investigations, equipment failure analyses and reliability studies.
  • Provide support for new meter/meter accessories review, testing and certification.
  • Communicate non-comm solutions to field metering team and follow up to completion.
  • Assess and develop reports that would help monitor and track progress with vendor BPTM installation
  • Organize Smart Meter Program folders on the SharePoint

The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with a team of experienced Records Analysts.  Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Gas Operations organization through the work they will be performing.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering field at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship

Desired:

  • EIT or FE certification
  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
