Department Overview

The Strategy Department is responsible for the on-going management, refreshment, and implementation of PG&E’s 10-year enterprise transformation strategy known as the True North Strategy (TNS).

 

Position Summary

The Senior Strategy Analyst is a position within the TNS and Long-Term Planning Team and will primarily focus on strategy implementation. The position will play a key role in implementing the company’s 10-year strategy through engagement with key stakeholders across the enterprise, including strategic Business Plan leads, the Enterprise Planning teams, Enterprise Lean office, investment planning teams, signposting SMEs, Senior Leaders, and our general coworker population. The role will focus on designing and implementing an Integrated Energy Planning (IEP) framework while also support strategic Business Plan development, management, and coordination.

 

This is a highly visible strategic planning role that will work cross-functionally across the company, partnering closely with leadership across all areas, including Operations, Engineering, and Finance to achieve PG&E’s long-term strategic objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with members of the TNS team and the strategic Business Plan leads across the enterprise to create visibility and alignment to meet annual strategic milestones. This role will help facilitate executive decision making on investment and resource allocation; drive senior level partnerships across key departments; and ensure plans deliver strategic, financial, and operational goals. This FTE’s work will help teams understand how actions and plans impact long-term outcomes including load growth, greenhouse gas emissions, customer bills, and customer satisfaction. This FTE will create and maintain a governance structure to facilitate the necessary touchpoints with all stakeholders. This FTE’s role has the potential to generate bill savings and affordability through improved decision making and investments to meet the need of California’s changing energy system.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location (1-3 days per week in office) based on business need. The work location is Oakland, CA.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $102,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $152,000.00

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Drives progress, and facilitates roadblock removal across Strategic business plans
  • Facilitates the strategic operating rhythm through cross-functional strategy forums, quarterly senior leadership offsites and Board of Director content creation
  • Engages with various TNS stakeholders, develops effective communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed and engaged, gathers input and feedback to inform decision-making processes
  • Coaching of Strategy business plan leads
  • Liaisons with the Enterprise Planning team and Enterprise Lean Office in support of integrating strategy into enterprise investment and resource plans
  • Coordinating between electric, gas, and generation investment planning teams to deliver PG&E’s long-term TNS outcomes
  • Specific deliverables include: designing quarterly workshops for planning teams to coordinate upcoming projects that require cross-functional collaboration to plan effectively and affordably for customers, designing an outcome framework to enable data-driven decision making on workplans and associated investments, and integrating long-term plans into our enterprise-wide planning process.
  • Mapping out how large projects can be coordinated across electric and gas functional areas and provide clear recommendations, including a proposal for an IEP framework that can be expanded across PG&E.
  • Developing a scalable framework for energy teams (gas, electric, and generation) that uses data to quantify impact of work activities to TNS outcomes

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Policy, Business, Finance, Sociology, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 4 years of job-related experience

 

Desired:

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills and experience communicating with multiple diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to manage fast paced and highly dynamic situations
  • 2+ years investment planning or management consulting experience
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations and stakeholder engagement experience
  • Exceptional analytical skills, ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable insights, and effective engagement with diverse stakeholders
  • A collaborative and team-oriented spirit
  • Highly organized, with demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities at once

  • Demonstrated knowledge of PG&E business, technology, policy and industry trends
