PG&E is more than the traditional pipes and wires that deliver gas and electricity to customers. The Company operates and maintains an extensive technology footprint that supports around 10 million electric and natural gas customers, over 1,000 software applications, a distributed network infrastructure with over 5,000 miles of fiber optic cables, and many thousands of devices used by employees in the delivery of services.
The Information Technology (IT) organization provides a strategic IT orientation, assesses and acquires relevant technologies, and identifies opportunities to use information technology to provide improved levels of service to PG&E employees and customers. Enterprise Strategy and Architecture (ES&A), within IT, provides strategic direction and an innovation on-ramp for new technologies in order to enable the important work that PG&E does.
Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Technology Capability Architecture will report to the Senior Director, Enterprise Strategy and Architecture and will be responsible for enabling our vision to become a leading Digital Utility by supporting our IT planning processes, strengthening architecture governance, managing the roadmap and strategy for technology, and managing the team of technical architects. This individual will work with the broader IT organization and all functional areas, including the CIO and line of business leaders, to determine ways that PG&E can leverage technology to enhance business objectives and improve the consumer experience.
The overarching purpose of this role will be to continue to build a sustainable blueprint for technology and an architecture runway, focusing on operational excellence, process improvement, and governance, while helping the company achieve its business objectives. PG&E has been investing in technology to deliver on the “Digital Utility” vision. The successful candidate in the role will be able to manage a team to develop and maintain technical standards and patterns, deliver guidance and support for the implementation of those standards and patterns and improve ES&A processes. The role will lead the development of the True North Strategy and any Board of Director updates for the Infrastructure and Cloud Services organization. Develop and maintain enterprise non-functional requirements for all technology deployed at PG&E.
This Senior Manager will be tasked with developing a long-term vision for technology and drive plans to execute on that vision and will lead a geographically distributed team and have responsibility for guiding, as well as influencing, senior leadership at all levels in addition to rest of the technology teams.
The Senior Manager will be located at PG&E’s headquarters in Oakland and can be expected to be in the office 1-3 days per week.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $167,000
Bay Area Maximum: $284,000

Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with team members within the Infrastructure and Cloud Services, Cybersecurity and Programs and Enterprise Platforms organizations.
- Support the evaluation of potential new technical capabilities.
- Develop and maintain technology standards and patterns and the road maps and guidance required to implement.
- Contribute to the analysis of the impact of strategic changes by defining linkages and interdependences.
- Transfer knowledge, capabilities, and skills to improve others' knowledge and skill levels.
- Apply knowledge through best practices to improve PGE OT solution design.
- Champion process efficiency and effective change management.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- B.A./B.S. degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or equivalent work experience
- 8 years of IT management or IT Architecture experience
- 3 years’ experience managing an enterprise architecture practice
Desired:
- MBA or Master’s degree in a related field
- Track record of high performance
- Knowledge of industry best practices regarding Technology Implementation and Strategy
- Exceptional program management and execution skills
- Knowledge of System Architecture concepts, IT/Computing infrastructure, Telemetry Infrastructure and protocols, User Interface and situational awareness trends, and Operational data historian
- Demonstration of strong execution and organization skills
- Proven ability to foster teamwork and work collaboratively through projects driving disruptive change
- Demonstrated human relations skills, including collaboration and experience leading high-performing and motivated teams
