Department Overview

 

The Vegetation Management leadership leads staff and outside contractors to ensure public safety, electric reliability, and regulatory compliance with state and federal vegetation management rules. The Construction Management team ensures workstreams align goals and objectives to support Vegetation Management’s operational and strategic initiatives. Focused on delivering solutions to ensure vegetation management work is performed safely, establishing cost controls and compliance procedures, process improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, and standardization, and development of central invoicing processes. 

 

Position Summary

 

Manages a team responsible for the safe and on-time completion of construction and improvement projects, establishing and monitoring operational budgets. Leads the team to identify contract-worthy projects, consults on project feasibility and project site details, coordinates with construction crews, oversees project inspectors, and, on a project-specific basis, performs construction oversight. Ensure projects are completed per PG&E standards, engineering design, regulatory agencies' guidelines, permits, and schedule.

 

This position is hybrid. You will work from your remote office and your assigned location based on business needs. The headquarters location is flexible within the PG&E service territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $151,000

Bay Area Mid-Point: $204,000

Bay Area Maximum: $257,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $143,000

California Mid-Point: $194,000
California Maximum: $244,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Ensures all transmission, distribution, and applicant-installed projects in the region are completed with safety, quality, productivity, within budget, schedule, and in harmony with the communities where our work is conducted. 
•    Ensure all CM organization goals and KPI are met while ensuring work is conducted utilizing standard work and the lean operating system throughout the region at all levels, and that all work in the region takes place per all applicable quality safety standards, including, specifically, but not limited to, all PG&E, Human Performance, and SIF capacity standards,  
•    Lead miscellaneous initiatives and projects to improve the CM organization, waste elimination, quality, productivity, affordability, timeliness, and the service we provide our customers. 
•    Manages PCC budgets, capital, and expense spending to ensure work identified in the plan is completed and unit cost targets are achieved.
•    Manages customer service activities to achieve excellent customer satisfaction.
•    Ensures the work and resource management process is fully implemented to achieve work commitments and that all team personnel are trained to perform their jobs and can respond to all emergencies safely and effectively.
•    Ensures incidents and near misses are thoroughly investigated and reported promptly.
•    Creates a work environment where innovative solutions to complex work issues are consistently developed.
•    Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for external agencies and municipalities within the region(s)/workgroup.
•    Partners with peers, employees, and union representatives to enhance employee engagement.
•    Collaborates with internal and external partners to improve resourcing outcomes. Identifies opportunities to optimize sourcing strategies and contract execution.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

•    Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or job-related discipline, or equivalent experience 
•    10 years of relevant experience. 2 years of experience managing (Gas/Electric/vegetation) construction or field project operations.

 

Desired:

 

•    Applicable Electric Codes, Standards & Operating Procedures
•    Expert knowledge of Electric Transmission & Distribution construction projects in all disciplines: including civil, mechanical, pipelines, facilities, etc.
•    Working Knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software and Primavera UNIFIER  
•    Demonstrated abilities in project inspection and quality control.  
•    Knowledge of Electric Operations, Transportation, and Storage
•    Knowledge of maintenance and management of service support equipment, include scheduling and deployment.
•    Knowledge of forestry and/or utility vegetation management concepts, methods, and techniques
•    Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, process improvement skills, and creative thinking to review compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs.
•    Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
•    Expert in influence and negotiation skills, tact and diplomacy, and political acumen to navigate sensitive customer/public issues.
•    Exceptional independent organizational, time management, prioritization, and planning skills.
•    Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
