Department Overview

 

The Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) and Power Generation (PGEN) Team, under the Applications and Operations organization, supports the applications that enable the people and processes that work in Energy Procurement, Market and Credit Risk Management, and Power Generation. These applications enable our business partners to transact gas and power on behalf of California customers through the CAISO market, energy exchanges, and supplier contracts.

 

These systems allow our business partners to securely transact gas and power through the CAISO market, energy exchanges, and supplier contracts, ensuring PG&E can meet customer demand every day. At the same time, these solutions provide strong market and credit risk controls that protect customers from unnecessary financial exposure and help keep energy costs stable and predictable. Beyond daily operations, the team delivers application enhancements and new capabilities that improve how PG&E participates in energy markets, supporting safe, compliant, and efficient operations in alignment with regulatory requirements from the CPUC, NERC, FERC, and SEC.

 

Position Summary

 

The main role of the Senior IT Endur Coordinator and Business Analyst (BA) is to support the ETRM Endur application by filling the roles of a Level 1 (L1) frontline help desk that acts as the initial point of contact for users experiencing basic technical issues and supporting business analysis for the Endur application, Endur testing, some application administration, and support SOX compliance and audits. The BA will also be asked analyze and propose system solutions for the Line of Business and IT organizations. The BA is viewed as an integral strategic partner and business liaison in technology decisions who understands business content, procedures, processes and systems for the corresponding business units. The BA is responsible for working with the Business, Endur SMEs and O&M leads to analyze and translate business needs/requirements into detailed requirements and functional specifications. The BA will also be asked to perform feasibility analysis, develop work scope, and provide recommendations on alternative solutions, project strategy and deliverable prioritization, as well as system alternatives or enhancements to current systems. Analyzes business needs, defines detailed requirements and validates solutions with the client.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office based on business need.

 

 Job Responsibilities 

 

Client Support and Consulting:

  • Provide L1 help desk support for the Endur application that act as the initial point of contact for users experiencing basic technical issues
  • Managing the backlog of all submitted requests/incidents and supporting change requests.
  • Interacting with different groups and systems in support of open requests or work.
  • Provide analysis for submitted issues and product testing support for production code changes
  • Supporting Endur application certification in ATLAS and AMP applications.
  • Disaster Recovery Coordination/Facilitation
  • Support Endur start of month and end of month activities. 
  • Provide consulting in information technology to the client to identify and satisfy the business needs.
  • Understand the client’s current and future business environment, effectively anticipate, identify and meet the business needs.
  • Identify, propose and influence IT solutions to business problems; negotiate requirements and deliverables with the client.
  • Anticipate client concerns and questions and provide timely and professional client-focused communications.
  • Provide timely responses to client inquiries.

 

Business Analysis:

  • Define and document business requirements for projects.
  • Actively contribute to the business cases for IT projects and initiatives.
  • Review design and technical specification documents for alignment with business solutions.
  • Prepare or review test plans and perform quality reviews of test results.
  • Comply with SOX process/documentation and other standard process requirements and support quarterly SOX audits..
  • Analyze end-to-end business processes of moderate to high complexity and information needs of the clients in one or more business functional areas.
  • Evaluate and document alternatives that will provide the most effective solutions to business problems.

 

Other:

  • Communicate IT processes to business clients.
  • May perform various additional activities, such as operation and maintenance support, application testing, etc.

 

Background Qualifications

 

Minimum

 

  • BA/BS in Computer Science/ Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 4 years of job-related experience in Information Technology. 3 years of experience in business analysis.
  • Participation in projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Familiarity with the corresponding Line of Business-related functions.
  • Continuous education in IT and business specific areas.

 

Desired 

 

  • Openlink Endur Experience V22 or higher preferred)
  • Experience in areas of Front, Middle, or Back office for energy procurement activities.
  • Experience with US gas, power, Greenhouse Gas, and Resource Adequacy trading/settlement lifecycles.
  • Experience using BMC Remedy or ServiceNow for work management.
  • Experience with ALM Quality Center.
  • Experience as a business analyst
  • Experience with product testing
  • Advanced degree is a plus
  • 5+ years of job-related experience in Information Technology, which may include or be in addition to 5+ years of experience in business analysis and testing.
  • Working experience with the corresponding Line of Business.
  • Extensive participation in projects of high complexity.
  • Leadership role in projects of medium complexity.
  • Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) is a plus.

 

Compensation

 

PG&E provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

  • Bay Area Minimum: $109,000
  • Bay Area Midpoint: $142,000
  • Bay Area Maximum: $175,000
