Department Overview

 

The Electric Engineering team ensures ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Engineering is responsible for PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, system protection engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

 

Position Summary

 

This job is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.

 

The Senior level engineer job requires mastery of the Journey level engineer skills and duties. This position is responsible for providing technical specification of equipment, design criteria, standards and implementation support for the substation electrical transformers and handles complex problems and issues.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.

 

The annual salary range is:

 

CA Minimum, $148,272

CA Maximum, $190,488

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Implement capital projects from Initiation to completion.
  • Understand drivers behind projects.
  • Understand and be able to speak to why projects need to get implemented and why now.
  • Own projects scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Work with Project Managers and project stakeholder to implement projects successfully.
  • Create PowerPoint slide decks for large, complex projects and present to leadership team.
  • Act as SME for assigned projects and response to data requests in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with Transmission Planning and Transmission Line Asset Strategy teams.
  • Write Advanced Authorization, Business Case and other related projects documents to request internal company authorization to spend money on projects.
  • Own projects funding for current and future years by participating in Investment Planning process.
  • Provide technical expertise and lead in implementation of complex and large-scale projects.
  • Provide support on regulatory, governmental, and other third-party issues.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

  • BS Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or other related Engineering degree as appropriate from an accredited curriculum in the US or the equivalent from outside the US
  • 8 years of cumulative experience in engineering, planning and/or operations

 

Desired:

  • 2 years of power transformer experience
  • Experience in Quality audits or cause analysis
  • Experience in substation transformer design
  • Current and active California PE license desired
