Department Overview

The Clean Energy Transportation (CET) group is focused on accelerating the adoption of clean vehicles in California. CET leads a ~$0.5B portfolio of transportation electrification (TE) programs to increase the adoption of clean vehicles in California as we work to address one of the largest contributors to climate change – and we need a motivated, organized strategic thinker to help us determine how to expand this portfolio. We serve PG&E’s customers by deploying electric vehicle programs to increase access to charging infrastructure, reduce total cost of electric vehicle ownership, educating our customers and pursuing innovative R&D on the future of transportation electrification, focused on vehicle-grid-integration.

Position Summary

CET manages over 2800 electric vehicle charging ports all throughout PG&E service territory. The Operations Performance Manager, Senior will lead the development and implementation of materials asset management for these EV charging stations through the asset lifecycle, including routine planned and unplanned maintenance. Utilizes project management tools and methodologies on projects that have a distinct beginning and end. There are typically no direct reports; rather people and other resources are indirectly managed as part of a project team.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $98,000

Bay Area Maximum: $146,000

And/or

California Minimum: $93,000

California Maximum: $139,000

 

Job Responsibilities

Use best practices, analysis, market intelligence, governance, and research to improve performance and efficiency of EV infrastructure and charger asset management, while also reducing costs. Collaborate to plan engagement objectives and a strategy that addresses risk and performance improvement. Define project scope and objectives; obtain commitment on detailed work plans including schedule, cost, resources, contingency and communication plans; obtain management approval as needed; ensure work documentation is maintained; identify, analyze, and address work performance issues; manage the integration of vendor tasks and track and review vendor deliverables; communicate work status to all stakeholders; assess work risk and develop contingency plans; and identify and communicate lessons learned and best practices.

 

Operations Performance Management:

Create, develop, execute, and troubleshoot a variety of tasks necessary for managing the EV Charger O&M program, including but not limited to managing budgets, timelines, external partners, and key performance indicators.

Responsible for driving best practices/efficiencies related to executing the O&M strategy.

Troubleshoot in the field, maintenance related issues to keep charger uptime at expected rate.

Manage contractors and vendors who are providing repairing and replacement services to the EV infrastructure and chargers.

 

Communication:

Communicate work scope and progress, through written and oral communications, to customers, stakeholders, and department leadership.

Can differentiate between different audiences and creates content accordingly.

Build effective working relationships across PG&E and external organizations to deliver solutions to complex problems that arise during O&M execution.

 

Travel expected 2-3 days per week within the PG&E service territory (primarily in the bay area and central valley).

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 6 years

 

Desired:

  • Experience with electrical work
  • Knowledge of electric vehicle charging station equipment.
  • Knowledge in NEC and building codes related to EV infrastructure requirements
  • Understand how to develop and implement portfolio asset management system.
  • Workload/time management skills, including the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to develop working relationships with customers and business partners ensuring that work plans and operations are coordinated, aligned and support attainment of department and company goals and objectives.
