Department Overview

 

Engineering, Planning & Strategy will play a leading role in showing California and the world how PG&E will meet California’s decarbonization and resilience goals while improving safety, affordability and reliability. EP&S will have asset management responsibilities for our gas system and electric infrastructure and will integrate inputs from across the enterprise to define our multi-year capital plan. EP&S will enable our coworkers on the front lines to have the plans, tools, and equipment they need, so we can do the right work at the right time.

 

Procurement, Supply Chain and Materials reside under the Senior Vice President, Enterprise Service Delivery in EP&S.

 

 

Position Summary

 

The Senior Director, Indirect & Corporate Services is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic sourcing and procurement of all indirect spend categories within an organization. This role involves developing and executing category management strategies, leading a team of category managers, and ensuring the organization achieves optimal value from its indirect procurement activities.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work headquarters in Oakland.

 

 

Reporting Relationship

 

This position reports to the VP, Chief Procurement Officer and directly leads a team of approximately 15 managers and directors over Category Portfolio Managers, Category Leads, Procurement Analysts, and other indirect procurement staff. 

 

This leader also has key stakeholder relationships with the leaders in the lines of business, finance, IT, HR, and others functional areas.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive category management strategies for all indirect spend categories.
  • Align category strategies with the overall business objectives and procurement goals.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, value creation, and process improvement.
  • Ensure spend is fully documented and traceable in the system(s)
  • Understand business risk factors and minimize risk appropriately
  • Drive SKU and Specification rationalization

 

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of category managers and procurement professionals.
  • Foster a high-performance culture within the team, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Set team objectives and track progress
  • Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills and resources to achieve their objectives.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders to conduct SKU and specification rationalization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and support for category strategies.
  • Communicate category management plans and outcomes to senior management and other key stakeholders.

 

Lead Strategic Sourcing Events:

  • Provide supporting analytics to identify savings opportunities and to validate realized savings
  • Utilize Total Cost of Ownership tools to deliver best total value
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute RFx events
  • Provide a common platform that communicates the scope of work and results to all stakeholders
  • Craft and negotiate contracts, incorporating results into legal documents
  • Provide supporting analytics to identify savings opportunities and to validate realized savings

 

Supplier Management:

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Leads Supplier Business Review Process and Teams for Indirect
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure the best possible terms for the organization.
  • Monitor supplier performance and manage any issues or risks that arise.

 

Contract Management:

  • Perform Contract Management and own a contract roadmap
  • Manage relationships with suppliers ensuring effective communication, contract compliance, and performance
  • Ensure compliance with law and regulations for relevant sourcing activities and compliances with applicable corporate policies and procedures, including Delegation of Authority, Decision Authority, Code of Conduct, and any sourcing policies such as Ethical Conduct, Conflict of Interest, etc.

 

Financial Management:

  • Oversee the budgeting and financial planning for indirect categories.
  • Track and report on category spend, savings, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

 

Market Analysis:

  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and best practices.
  • Use insights gained from market analysis to inform category strategies and decision-making..

Compensation

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum: $201,000

Bay Area Maximum: $343,000

 

 

 

Background Qualifications

 

Minimum

  • BA/BS degree in supply chain management, engineering, business administration, or other relevant degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of supply chain management experience, demonstrating progressive responsibility.
  • Experience leading effective change management.

 

Desired

  • MBA or MS in supply chain management, engineering, or business administration.
  • Six Sigma, CPSM or other related certification.
  • Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in procurement and category management, with a focus on indirect categories (such as facilities, IT, real estate, professional services, staffing, marketing, etc).
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful category management strategies, Strategic Sourcing and SRM.
  • Experience in leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Procurement transformation and change management experience.
  • Delivered significant total cost reduction.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to coach team.
  • Understanding of key sourcing processes and tools, as well as contractual and legal aspects.
