Position Summary

The Strategy, Innovation and Partnership Leadership team identifies, monitors and develops plans to manage emerging issues and technologies that present challenges and opportunities for PG&E. The team engages with internal stakeholders to collect information, build internal capabilities, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, and works externally to establish partnerships and collaborate on new technologies which will benefit the Company.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Represents PG&E in front of regulatory bodies (for example, CPUC, CARB, EPA, PHMSA) to discuss innovation ideas and solicit partnerships and approval.
  • Fosters collaboration and builds partnerships on innovation both within PG&E and external partners, by developing and continuously improving venues and opportunities for innovation.
  • Partners with the System Resource and Planning team to ensure that leadership strategy decisions support resources and long-term planning.
  • Understands the implications of a broad range of scientific and technical fields to effectively support and direct SMEs to interact with researchers and to identify breakthrough innovations.
  • Builds, manages, and fosters technical and collaborative skills across the Strategy, Innovation and Partnerships team.
  • Expands the Company’s long-term innovation capabilities by engaging with internal stakeholders to enhance, encourage, and drive innovative thinking within the Company.
  • Leads the team’s ability to identify, assess, and develop tactics to address strategy and innovation related emerging trends that may impact PG&E’s operations and investments.
  • Facilitates regular cadence of officer discussions and decisions on strategy, innovation, partnership opportunities, and challenges. Enables decision-making with clear goals, strategies, and tactics, with clear ownership across lines of business.
  • Engages throughout the organization and collects information from SMEs on the impact of new trends on PG&E’s business and operations.
  • Identifies enterprise-level near/medium/long term innovation gaps and establishes goals and roadmaps to fill those gaps. Creates and oversees a long-term innovation strategy for the company.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 12 years
  • Utility industry experience
  • Experience in strategy development

 

Desired:

 

  • Graduate Degree or equivalent experience
