Position Summary

 

The Senior Director, Electric Operations(EO) Portfolio Delivery leads a department tasked with developing and managing major Transmission and Distribution capital projects. Leads a matrix team of PG&E leadership and subject matter experts who provide guidance, technical direction, and support for all aspects of large capital programs valued over ~$1B. Interfaces with key internal and external stakeholders as the primary PG&E contact. The Senior Director partners with other senior leaders to formulate and execute a program development strategy and PG&E’s competitive market strategy. Aspects of the strategy may involve partnering with external third-party agencies or companies such as Independent Transmission Companies or Public Agencies. The Senior Director leads third party relationship management, develops overall strategy with senior leaders, and leads the planning process with the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) for both economic or policy driven projects.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

Reporting Relationship

 

Reports to the VP of Electric Operations Portfolio and Program Management

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Oversees project origination for major projects. Identifies project opportunities and potential project partners. Focuses on major policy driven or economic major projects. May represent PG&E on public or executive planning committees.
  • Evaluates the program feasibility and evaluates costs and benefits of new major opportunities. Presents recommendations to Sr. Management. Presents business case for new projects to executives, Board of Directors, and senior leadership forums. Gains approval/buy in.
  • Leads negotiations of development agreements or joint ventures and represents PG&E at the executive level of governance for joint venture projects.
  • Advocates in regulatory and stakeholder forums (CPUC, FERC, CAISO, CEC, WECC, CTPG and others) to shape the rules of competition and support projects in which PG&E would like to participate.
  • Interfaces with Energy Supply, Governmental Relations, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, Law and other departments, seeking review, input and approval during project initiative/development.
  • Leads and directs all aspects of program management. Develops and negotiates commercial arrangements to establish project governance and the rights and obligations of the project partners. Develops project branding, a public affairs plan and manages project communications. Works closely with Procurement’s project management service, Land and Legal departments to develop a project permitting strategy and plan.

Compensation

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This leadership role is also eligible for an annual Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP), as well as the Long Term Incentive Plan (LTIP).

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum: $201,000

Bay Area Maximum:$343,000

 

Or

 

California Minimum: $191,000

California Maximum:$326,000

 

Background Qualifications

 

Minimum

  • Bachelor degree in engineering, economics or related field.
  • 12 years total related experience.
  • 7 years of leadership experience

Desired

  • MBA, Law degree or other related graduate degree.
  • Professional Engineer, Professional Project Manager
  • Experience leading complex commercial contract negotiations
