Department Overview

The Business Finance teams provide financial planning and reporting services to PG&E and is responsible for providing strategic direction and coordination in respect to strategic functional area planning processes, financial planning, forecasting, analytics and reporting. This position serves as the strategic partner for a specific Functional Area but also works cross functionally to ensure that enterprise-wide budget and efficiency goals are met. The Sr Director Position also plays a critical role in the broader finance transformation effort underway at PG&E, which include implementing new standards for reporting financial data and building more flexibility and resiliency into the enterprise planning processes while improving financial controls. As a Senior Director within the Business Finance department, you can expect to engage in a variety of challenging and meaningful work, including:

 

  • Generating and analyzing financial performance reports and forecasts that will drive business decisions and help the utility's operational units manage their financial performance
  • Advising officer level partners on financial implications of operational and regulatory strategies
  • Leading a high-potential team of leaders and analysts to achieve the LOB and company goals and meet individual development objectives
  • Developing, communicating, and implementing processes and tools that drive budget accountability and financial insight, and
  • Analyzing and streamlining internal processes to increase team efficiency and drive engagement

Position Summary

Oversees the team that provide financial planning and reporting services to PG&E Electric Operations. Serves as the primary contact for all finance and accounting, operational performance, and budget and forecasting inquiries for Electric Operations within PG&E. Oversees budget planning, forecasting and reporting support for Electric Operations. Provides management guidance and oversight to employees on the assigned Business Finance team.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to a team of directors and managers on the business planning team to review forecasts fora variety of business lines and help provide financial oversight, leadership and support. Should include experience managing large teams and organizations.
  • Responsible for leading the business planning function across the company.
  • Manage the business planning process for the finance team, including budget planning, forecasting, operational performance analysis and strategic planning
  • Liaison with officers to drive performance and provide business planning and strategic analysis support. Manage a team of high performing business finance analysts.
  • Partner with leaders to drive high performance in their lines of business. Develop deep understanding of business drivers and financial levers to provide strategic decision support.
  • Partner with other finance functions to improve, expand and support the financial planning, analysis, problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Lead a team to execute the business planning, financial analytics, and financial support for operations in a manner that creates value in a centralized model.
  • Develop and drive a high-performance team of managers and directors.
  • Partner with Management Reporting to drive budgeting and long-range planning processes for lines of business.
  • Special projects (financial/operational) as requested
  • Plan and deliver the annual budget for their organization and the organizations they support

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $201,000

Bay Area Maximum: $343,000

Qualifications

Minimum:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.

10 years job related experience.

Leadership experience.

Experience with cost modeling software.

 

Desired:

MBA

CPA, CFA

Sound business judgment to drive strategic initiatives.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to drive performance and development of future leaders in the organization.

Sound understanding of PG&E's cost model and the underlying IT systems that are used by the Business Finance team.
