Department Overview

The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure all manners of electric engineering—including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning—are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.

 

Position Summary

This position is represented by Engineers & Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $59.73 per hour.  This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, makes all types of drawings or maps or portions thereof from preliminary layout sketches, notes, diagrams, or other data including the maps of other agencies.
  • May be required to prepare details and studies requiring application of limited engineering knowledge.
  • May be required to use tables and make engineering calculations.
  • Is responsible for the development of their drawings in conjunction with the work of others and directs the work of other drafters.

 
Qualifications
Minimum:

  • Two or more years of college in the appropriate engineering field or the equivalent in education and practical drafting experience. Must be familiar with construction materials and their use and modern methods of construction or fabrication.

 
Desired:

  • Experience in electric substation design/drafting
  • Two years of drafting training or the equivalent in education and experience with a demonstrated drafting aptitude
  • Expertise in AutoCAD software (AutoCAD Electrical Experience Preferred)
  • Experience in SBS Substation Design Suite (Physical for AutoCAD and Protection & Control)
  • Willingness to work in a radiation-controlled area
  • Competency in providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done
  • Competency in relating openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people
  • Knowledge of engineering codes and standards as needed to perform at the job level
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight
  • Ability to read and understand information presented in graphics, maps, schematics, or diagrams as needed to perform at the job level
  • Additional consideration may be given to candidates that reside within 50 miles of the headquarters
