Department Overview
The Business Finance Power Generation team provides critical financial support to PG&E's Hydro, Fossil, Photovoltaic, and Battery Storage Operations. This support includes financial analysis, budgeting, planning and forecasting, monitoring, controlling and accounting, operational performance reporting and analysis, and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company's strategic, operational and financial objectives.

Position Summary
The Senior Business Finance Analyst will join the Power Generation Business Finance team, working primarily in support of internal and external reporting. In this role you will have strong verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and quantitative skills, a background in finance, accounting, or engineering. You will be poised in working with many levels of staff, display strong organizational and planning skills, initiative and enthusiasm, and strong interpersonal skills. You will be responsible for working with various managers and directors within PG&E as a support basis for business decision-making, assist with their budget, planning and other finance/accounting needs.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office every Tuesday or based on business needs or company requirements.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $98,000
Bay Area Maximum: $146,000
Job Responsibilities
- Reporting & Analysis (Historical): Provide timely and accurate monthly financial visibility that objectively assesses performance, and proactive financial analytics that identify opportunities, risks, and associated resolution recommendations.
- Planning (Long Term): Develop, advise, and integrate the business unit financial plans and performance baselines to meet the Company's long term operational and financial objectives.
- Forecasting (Short Term): Provide timely, balanced forward looking financial assessments that capture current performance and enable nimble, value optimized operational and financial decisions.
- Regulatory: Serve as the financial backbone for regulatory filings; including business unit and corporate items expenses for our General Rate Case filing and Risk Assessment Mitigation Phase (RAMP) filing.
- Process Optimization: Identify, and evaluate key processes for opportunities in effectiveness, control, and efficiency, and recommend and implement improvements.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- 3 years of job-related work experience
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience or training
Desired:
- Job-related experience, 4 years
- CPA
- Big 4 or regional accounting firm work experience
- External reporting experience
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and presentation skills
- Intellectual curiosity, and relentless continuous improvement
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and overhead allocation models
- Ability to work independently
- Exceptional time management skills to deal with tight deadlines
- Strong Excel modeling and PowerPoint skills
- Working knowledge of SAP R3, SAP Business Objects, Analysis for Office, and Power BI
