Department Overview

Electric Asset & Regulatory is responsible for the electric system engineering and planning, asset strategy, and risk management across transmission, distribution, and substation asset families. This centralized, risk-informed approach allows PG&E to manage electric risk, asset and system health, interconnections, and performance by using consistent standards, work methods, prioritization, and program sponsorship, while leveraging lessons learned from inspections and asset data to inform asset management decisions. Accountable for asset planning and strategy, standards and work methods, and asset data management for Electric. 

 

Position Summary

PG&E is seeking an experienced business professional to be a member of the Electric Compliance Assurance Incident Intake Team as a Business Analyst, Senior.

 

The Incident Intake team is responsible for the data intake, reporting, and tracking of:

  • Electric Incidents (EIRs) to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
  • Serious Injury or Fatalities (SIF)
  • Public Safety Incidents (PSI)
  • Other Apparent Cause and Root Cause Evaluations (ACE and RCE)

 

This role will focus primarily on the data intake, analysis, and elements associated with the Electric Compliance Assurance organization. A strong applicant will have a data analysis background and be comfortable working in Excel, MS Teams, and other company databases.

 

The role is classified as hybrid, working primarily from your remote office and in-person in the Oakland General Office, approximately once per week or more, as business needs require. 

 

The selected candidate must live within PG&E’s service territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)            $102,000.00

Mid Base Salary (Bay Area)        $127,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $152,000.00

 

Minimum Base Salary (California)         $97,000.00

Mid Base Salary (California)      $121,000.00

Maximum Base Salary (California)        $144,000.00

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the investigation process and partner with the CAP/SIF Investigation team, the Electric Incident Investigation (EII) team, and the SIF Review Team (SRT)
  • Work with other groups that contribute to the investigation process: EIR On-Call, EII, CAP, Law-Claims, Vegetation Management, and Electric Operations
  • Extracts and analyzes data from various PG&E systems, aggregating and synthesizing to formulate findings and recommendations
  • Track and review incident CAPs and perform necessary follow up to determine need for incident SIF or PSI review
  • Prepare and coordinate tri-weekly presentations to review investigation-related deliverables
  • Present and review with stakeholders up to VP, gaining acceptance, concurrence or approval, where required
  • Consistently QC data in the centralized tracker of all investigations
  • Ensures communication is tailored to the audience
  • Develop relationships with various stakeholders and obtain feedback on team work on a regular basis, improving processes to ensure work product is providing intended value
  • Maintain high level of stakeholder satisfaction:
    • Ensure client needs are met, regularly soliciting feedback and ensuring understanding of how work product will be used downstream
    • Ensures regular and effective stakeholder communication. Routinely interfaces with client groups at the individual contributor through VP level

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum

  • Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related
  • 4 years of related working experience

 

Desired

  • Strong presentation, written, and communication skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, ensure consistency across concepts, be careful about details, and thorough in completing work tasks
  • Understanding of data concepts, methods, and techniques
  • Experience collecting and reviewing data (e.g., searching for anomalies/data gaps/inconsistencies), utilizing repeatable processes and adding controls, when possible, to increase data integrity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Teams
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Business, or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of job-related experience
  • Proficient in SQL, PowerBI, or Tableau
  • Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information and translate to actionable key takeaways and iterating to meet customer needs
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate, removing obstacles or escalating to get work done
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
  • Prior experience with project/program management, managing large volumes of work concurrently
  • Prior experience working closely with legal/regulatory/field operations teams to meet shared objectives
