Job Summary

 

Works with all PG&E Materials organization to detect, prevent and mitigate safety risks. Conducts and completes incident analysis and ensures the chain of command is notified. Provides subject matter expertise on incidents analysis and provides consultation and guidance on corrective action development. Collaborates and supports the Materials organization and guides them on all safety related business. Utilizes safety trend analysis to identify and mitigate actions to correct gaps. Introduce and implement innovative solutions with impact to correct gaps. Conducts site visits of distribution centers and field service centers and partners with site frontline coworkers and management to identify and mitigate risk.  Partners with learning academy to improve training quality. Serve as a resource for the development, implementation, and sustainability of the various companywide initiatives.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland General Office once per week and based on business needs.  

  

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

A reasonable salary range is: 

Bay Area Minimum:    $129,000
Bay Area Maximum:    $207,000

 

Responsibilities

 

• Partners with supervisor to conduct and complete incident analysis of safety incidents and ensure the chain of command is notified.

• Provides SME on safety incidents and provides consultation and guidance on corrective actions. Ensures completion of corrective actions.

• Manages and develops safety programs for improved safety performance within the Materials organization. Subject Matter expert of applicable safety programs.

• Partners with site leadership to conduct incident analysis.

• Ensures mutual collaboration with line of business and integrate in all levels of the organization in regards to safety (field employees, grassroot).

• Serves as a liaison between the technical and practical aspect of safety and ensure implementation into the line of business.

• Frequently shares safety information to all in an impactful and results oriented way.

• Conducts trending of data to understand the leading indicators of safety issues

• Communicates safety trends and recommends safety corrective actions.

• Mentors supervisors on safety process and applicable programs.

• Creates safety action plans to strategize approach and provide guidance in development

• Strategizes approach for Materials to measure success in safety measures. Provides strategic cost effective actions.

• Utilizes trending analysis to identify and mitigate actions to correct gaps. Introduce and implement innovative solutions with impact to correct gaps. Communicates opportunities for improvement.

• Develops standards / procedures with associated safety training.

• Implements and leads safety initiatives

• Delivers safety training and measures the effectiveness of training. Partners with learning academy to improve training quality.

• Provides guidance on coordinating annual training and training profiling as needed.

• Serves as a safety / Materials SME during training development.

• Supports compliance with applicable programs (Respirator, hearing, ergo)

• Serves as a resource for the development, implementation, and sustainability of the various companywide initiatives. (Culture, near hit, grassroots, ergonomics, etc)

• Conducts gap analysis of Safety programs.

• Helps develop and implement new safety programs

• Conducts field and driver observations.

• Provides guidance to lower level Safety Specialists; may lead the work of others.

 

Requirements

Minimum

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience (additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree)
  • 7 years of relevant experience

 

Desired

 

• Advanced knowledge of PG&E safety procedures, the Code of Safe Practices and organizational safety-related processes and procedures.

• Advanced knowledge of CalOSHA general industry and construction safety orders and other recognized safety regulations and standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA, FedOSHA, etc).

• Ability to interpret and implement Safety regulations to improve the PG&E safety culture. • Expert at conducting and evaluating complex root cause analysis investigations and evaluating the effectiveness of corrective actions.

• Experience working in supply chain, distribution center setting and identifying and mitigating key areas of risk in this environment. 

• Expert at conducting hazard evaluations for complex or widely impactful/globally applicable jobs and recommending and evaluating the effectiveness of controls.

• Advanced knowledge of key PG&E organizations and their potential exposure to safety and health risks.

• Strong background and knowledge of material handing operations and equipment. 

• Expert at providing quality customer service and support in a professional and confident manner, and identifying potential safety needs. Recognized and trusted as a knowledgeable safety professional.
