Position Summary

Designs, develops, modifies, configures, debugs and evaluates application programs for functional business areas. Analyzes existing applications and systems and formulates logic for new systems, devises logic procedures, logical database design, performs coding and tests/debugs programs. Consults with business analysts and architects to understand, anticipate, and meet current and future business needs. Modifies and configures applications/systems as specified in the requirements and/or technical design document. Prepares and obtains approval of system and development documentation.


PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $136,000.00
Bay Area Midpoint: $184,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $232,000.00


This position is hybrid, working from your remote office at our Oakland Headquarters based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Freedom of Action: Acts as a thought- leader and contributes to the strategic vision of the Geospatial domain of the business technology area. Identifies application development problems as well as desired outcomes before the solution can be developed and actions taken.
  • Regularly called on to apply creativity or new approaches to technical and administrative assignments that may be unique. Lead complex transformational platform operations with multiple components requiring coordination of various functions and assessment of stakeholder impact.
  • Oversees the entire lifecycle of PG&E’s Geographic Information Systems technology (like ArcGIS) and data integrity, ensuring the platform aligns with business goals, stays secure, and meets user needs through technical oversight
  • Internal/External Contact: Ability to influence senior leadership. Works on long-term initiatives that drives technical direction.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate the next generation GIS operations team, setting priorities and managing performance. Ensure high availability and performance of complex enterprise GIS systems.
  • Select, negotiate with, and manage consultants and software/service vendors.
  • Analyze business processes to identify opportunities for GIS solutions.
  • Stay updated on emerging GIS technologies and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the GIS team.
  • Mentors less experienced Analyst; acts as lead on major operational initiatives
  • Problem Solving: Sets technical and process direction of multi-functional applications development areas. Manages, develops, and coordinates policies and standards.
  • The incumbent collaborates with others to develop individual goals that will achieve company strategy; will only seek guidance on critical and politically sensitive issues.
  • Work Scope Assignments are broad and highly complex and impact multiple in- flight initiatives, have major associated risks with high visibility, and can be sensitive or widely varied requiring expert judgment in applying and adapting techniques. evaluate new and emerging technologies, standards, and roadmaps. May set industry standards. Applies expert knowledge of subject area and ability to use and define technical details of assigned work. Serves as key technical resource and thought leader across several disciplines.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years job-related experience
  • Experience with programming languages
  • Leadership experience, development teams


Desired:

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience in Application support operations lead role
  • 5+ years’ experience with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise products
  • Experience with ESRI Utility network data model
  • Experience with programming languages - Python, C#, Java Script, PL Sql,
  • Expert with AWS Cloud technologies
  • Experience with Scaled agile methodologies, Dev Sec Ops standards
  • Experience with ITSM processes like Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration Management and Asset Management
